    how do i take the timing chain off to remove the head?Thanks

    You have to unbolt the sprocket gear from the camshaft, which is held by three 8mm "serrated bit" bolts. These require a special tool. The chain can stay on the sprocket, and the head can be lifted off after the sprocket is unbolted from the camshaft.

    (This is explained, in all the Opel service manuals. If you haven't done this before, you really shouldn't remove the head from an Opel, without referring to proper instructions).

    I agree wholeheartedly with Dave on this one. You MUST have a service manual (preferably a Factory Service Manual, available routinely from eBay and other sources) to do this kind of work. ESPECIALLY when it comes time to service the head, and even more so when you go to re-install it and you need to set the cam timing and lifters etc.
