Okay, my dad passed away a year ago and this was his car. He ended up giving it up to a junkyard because he was sick. I've been thinking a lot about him and I found this pic I took of him giving it away. He's gone now and I can't ask him the year, the model, or anything about this car. All I know is that when it was running, it was his baby and he loved it. Can anyone "try" to tell me around what year this car might be in or around? Any help would greatly be appreciated. I'm sorry I cant be much help as I was very young when I used to ride with him in this baby.

Aloha. I visited family on the islands last summer. Nice to see someone from Hawaii here.
I agree. It has the early type rims, so either a -69 or a -70.
I can also see that it had an automatic transmission.

It doesn't have the rear tip-out windows, again, this puts it as a 69-70, possibly a 71?
"Yes, I do have a rifle rack in my Sportwagon"
Late 69 - 70.. AS it has the indented panel for the license plate. Thats about as close as I think we can get with the one picture.
Sad to see it went to a junkyard.. looks like a good body overall.

I can say with complete assurance that that car is either a 69 or 70 Opel GT.
You should try to find out when it was last registered and then check with the DMV for a registration. That will have the VIN and then you can do a check from that to be 100% sure.

I've had my 71 GT since I was 3 when my father brought it home, and I'll have it till the day I die!!!!
Ditto what has been said above, your dad's GT was a '69 or '70 Opel GT.
If that yellow paint was original, then that would narrow it down to being a 1970 model year Opel GT as "Sunburst Yellow" was available on 1970 GT's but not on 1969 GT's. Also, if the color was a yellowish green shade (hard for me to say based on that photo), then it would also be consistent with the 1970 Opel GT as "GT Chartreuse" was only offered on 1970 Opel GT's (at least in the U.S.A.)

Thank you everyone for all your help. I really don't know much about this car but my dad obviously loved it and one day I hope to get one like it. I am definitely going to read up and do my homework on this car. Thank you all again!
