are bumpers mandatory?

i like the way mine looks better off the car with 4 red round brake lights. it looks more like a corvette from behind and makes the car look larger. they were rusted through anyways.

In many states I believe so! You will need to check for your state. I've heard of VW drivers getting ticketed for running the little 'nerf' bumpers in TN. I drove an old Dodge Ramcharger for over a year with no front bumper in Nashville, TN and finally drove through a little area with it's own police force that has nothing better to do than to enforce 'all' of the laws. I got a ticket! The day I was at the police station proving I had installed a bumper on my vehicle there was a lady there showing an officer that all of her lights were now operational. I would keep some semblance of bumpers on it, unless you're in with the local police and you never leave your community.

i always wondered if chrome or black paint would work as a faux bumper with the gt or even air con ducting joint tape if put on with great care

no good if parked but may just be enough while driving

here we can run without them as long as all edges and brackets are removed on the front
