anyone know the best way, and easiest, to attach the hood back onto my 72 GT, the original system is no more...amazed that's how they did it actually!

have a search for it im 99% sure "kwilford" did a thread on it years ago with photos on rebuilding the body for the hinge to mount on

There is no best way, and it's not easy. I just "fixed" my hood hinge after it froze up and tore itself out of the sheet metal bracket. I think I tore my rotator cuff trying to contort myself into a pretzel just to get at the mounting points. But, I did it without removing the engine, radiator, or master cylinder, so I feel like I accomplished something. It took me about 2 or 3 hours and 3 shirt changes because of the heat and humidity. I never want to do that job again

The hood hinge is mounted with two 13mm nuts on just a thin piece of sheet metal; which tends to rust over the years. What I do is simple, if there is part of that metal lip left, I just make an "L" shape bracket with a 6mm hole and weld it in place. Then re-install the hinge back in place.

Even with healthy units, the hood tends to wobble when open and this fix makes it rock solid.

thanks for your honesty and encouragement lol I think I might take off the master cylinder and add 'welding" to the list of things you did, hats off to you man, that's impressive.

Here is the thread with some photos I took of my hood hinge repair. It helps to have the car sand blasted to bare metal, the belly pan removed and the body flipped upside-down on a rotisserie!

with all these hood problems i keep hearing about im glad mine just sits on and has hood pins someone custom made. pics soon of my unique whole front. the lil latches prob got bend on youres by my guess.
