    Hello....New Opel Kadett B owner

Hello....I am new to the opel world and am building this car for my brother as a surprise. I recently purchased a 1968 Opel Kadett B Ralleye 1500 L. I am planning on putting a 5.3 L Chevy V8 in it with a 4L60 auto trans. I am having alot of difficulty finding the best suppliers for windows, weatherstripping, and upholstery. Please help me if you can.

    Thanks.

I'd love to see pics of your install.

There's a member named Rodney Killingsworth who can get windshield rubber and other items. I don't have his contact info handy but I will try to get it for you.

. . . that 1.5 CIH engine from your Kadett B, everything including carb!, one year only and somewhat rare here. Is the car in running condition, as is?

    Please Don't

First of that is an extremely rare opel, at this point it might be one of less than ten left in the US. If it's running, a collector would give his eyeteeth for that particular model, especially with that rare "One Year Only," engine.

I'm sure there's lots of guys here that would be happy to trade you a manta, or 1900 for your project.

The worst thing about this idea, is that that car won't take that horsepower without a lot of modifications.

I really wish you'd reconsider your choice of bodies to start this project, cause reading your post made me want to cry.
No, it's only a four cylinder!

I know where there is a good body Kadett B that would be more suitable for this modification than the 1500 1968 model as stated above.

The engine/trans and rear end are available if anyone is interested. I am not really interested in restoration, as this is a dream of my brothers (I am giving it to him as a surprise) that I am trying to make come true. I would only consider trade for a really clean body (Kadett A or B) as this car is in pretty good shape. The current engine is not running as it needs a new cap/rotor and coil that were removed by the shop that didn't receive payment from prior owner. It ran well before these items were removed.

Make me offers if you are interested in trades of some sorts, but make them quick because I am ready to go on this project.

    Thanks.

That car has the front fenders welded to the inner fender panels so it is a little more difficult to re-work than 69 up. I agree, if you are going to build a hot rod then the year of the car is the least of your worries. That car is a rare model being a 68 and a Rallye and needs to be in the hands of someone that is going to keep it original. Of course it is yours to do what you want with and I'm sure you will find lots of help and advise on this forum.
