My favorite other than Opel was a 69 Buick Skylark, 350-350. Now I have one of those sitting in my garage waiting for me to get to it too. But it must wait until the Opels are finished.
Posted this in a previous thread but think it should stand alone.
Besides your Opels, what is your favorite car you've ever owned?
I had a real nice 66 Mustang (just a six though) that had been in an auto musuem (Volo Auto Musuem) that I sold 6 years ago, but I think my 1964 Impala SS rag top beats out my 67 Chevelle SS 396 as being the car I wish I still had.
It was a 283 Powerglide when I got it but put in a 365 horse 327(66 Corvette engine-fuelie heads, and every thing but the fuel injection) engine and a 350 trans and the car was awesome (especially after driving it as a 283 for a long time!).

My Datsun 240Z. I loved that car, and one of these days I'm going to buy another one. The only speeding ticket I ever got was in that car (she was red), and the officer and I spent ten minutes just talking about the car before he reluctantly gave me the citation.
I'd still have her today except, according to the police, she had been a drug-running car. Someone recognized her, stole her, search-stripped her, then joy-rode her into a warehouse discrict where they jumped her off ramps and broke her axle. Broke my heart. I still have her key and choke knob.

My current 1963 Thunderbird Landau Coupe, but not by very much. I've had several non-Opels I'd like to have back as much.![]()

I am sorry to say I do not have a favorite car per say, I have a few I enjoy driving.
In December I will be visiting my family and of course the warehouse in Miami. I normally drive all of the cars and decide to leave one out for the duration of the trip. This year I believe I will drive around in my '66 Chevelle SS or a '74 Pontiac Trans-am SD455.
In Georgia I have a few I like as well. I am finishing two '72 Pontiac Ventura's, the cars are almost exactly the same but with different engines. They are both Chrome Yellow with black accents, my Son's car has a 350/350 crate engine and my car has a 400/475 crate engine. Father and son toys per say but still fun to drive around. I also have three Opels which two can be driven and the third one "Stealth" is in the final stages of the build.

1960 Studebaker Hawk. It has been in the family since new. My Grandparents actually flew back to South Bend, Indiana to pick it up from the factory. He sold it to my Uncle when he was playing with Paul Revere and the Raiders durning the mid to late 60's. I bought it form him in 1986. Currently it is apart and waiting for restoration once I get back to work.

My original '74 Manta Rallye was my all time favorite. Got married in that car, drove up Pike's Peak and Mt. Washington, and brought home 2 babies in it. My favorite non-opel was a '63 Buick Special 4dr with the 210 cid aluminum engine and 2 spd automatic. That car got me through college and grad school and also taught me alot about mechanics. Wished I had the engine now to put in a Manta body.

When you are my age and have been a motor head all your life you have the oppertunity to own or drive lots of cars. My favorite non-Opel that I have owned was a 1955 Chevrolet Bel-Air two door HT. It was powered by a 350HP 327 and had a Borg-Warner T-10 4 speed with a Hurst Super Shifter. It had a 3:55 posi rear and it still brings a smile to my face remembering the good times I had with that car. My favorite Opel was a 1973 Diplomat with a 5.4 (327) V8 and a Turbo 400 transmission from the factory. I guess I would have to say that my favorite would be whatever project I am working on at the time. I like cars and I get satisfaction out of completing a project and driving it no matter what it is.
I've had pick up trucks and cars, and my Avalanche is a thing of beauty and pure joy. But as for cars, other than my GT, my favorite car was my 2000 Neon that I bought new from the dealer. In my opinion, for an economy car in its class, the Neon's styling, handling and comfort is unsurpassed. Although my very first car, a 1974 Ford Maverick coupe (250 ci w/auto) is perhaps the most memorable. They say you never forget your first girl.
1969 Opel GT (owned since 1985- under restoration)
2004 Pontiac Vibe (wife's car)
2005 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4WD
1994 Mercury Villager
I haven't owned too many cars but other than the GT, it'd have to be the 92 Thunderbird 5.0. I still want another one.
Needs a 2dr Ascona, everyone else has one.
Although not my first car (that was a 69 1.9 GT), this is my favorite. If only I could find it now....coulda/woulda/shoulda, know what I mean?
In all the years I've met and talked to Opel owners (past and present), it seems that Mustangs pop up more often than Camaros as their interest in 'other' cars.
"No, it's not fiberglass."
"No, the motor is not in the back."
"No, your friend in high school did not 'peg' his speedometer."
1982 280zx t-top. It was the n/a version with a rb25det motor installed. Pushed 340hp to the rear wheel at 14lbs of boost. Only car i've been in that was faster was a corvette with almost 600hp at the wheel. Crashed her into a stone wall of a very twisty road, but I'll bring her back to life in a new body.
1972 Opel GT: 2.4, big brakes, efi - inprogress
It has to be my first car the 72 Rallye, I used to smoke quite a few people racing the 3 miles from the center of town up to the country club. The car was stock but sure could handle the curves that road threw at you!!

Favorite Non-Opel is my current Daily Driver. 2001 Saab 9-5 V-6 (red) with an asymmetric turbo. Only 200 HP, but is a blast to drive. Its great when I'm responding to a Fire/police call.
Any car can be made fun. It all depends on the nut loose behind the wheel![]()
1972 Opel GT, Owner since 1983
2001 Saab 9-5 SE 3.0 Turbo V6 Weeeeeeeeeee!!!
1973 GT, Parted out, R.I.P.
1968 Kadette, Owner since 2006, Sold, 28 June 2008
1984 Monte Carlo with a v6...most comfortable car in the world and did great on the gas mileage. Light canary yellow with awesome rims.

My Opel doesn't just turn heads...it breaks necks!!
For me it was my 1972 Cutlass Supreme 2 door 350 rocket. Drove that car from IN.to Fla. with out a hitch. I bought the car in 86 and sold it in 97 I have missed it ever since!![]()
My second favorite non-Opel was my '69 Camaro 327 that I put 180,000 miles on it before I sold it. I kept my '69 GT over the Camaro figuring the GT would be worth more in the future. I was right, the GT is worth more. (but not in $$$) I test drove a '69 Shelby Mustang GT 500 just before I bought the Camaro. Man was that a fast car. The asking price for the GT 500 was a whopping $3,995.00.
My favorite was my '48 Ford coupe that I had back in high school. Put a Pontiac motor in it then later a 301 Chevy with 3 carbs.
