I live in Middlesborough, England. I am 42 years old and have never seen an Opel GT in the flesh, they are that rare over here. I run a 1979 Manta B.
Dave;
The opposite is true here, I know of only one Manta B and it's a I200 and it's in Canada

I am originally from the Philippines but permanently residing in Missouri. As a child in Manila I saw the Kadett, Rekord, Ascona, Manta, and GT. I fell in love with the GT right away. It looks like a Ferrari, even the tail lights. Sadly though, a GT is a rarer site here than a Ferrari.
Closed poll, but that's ok. Born and raised in New Jersey acrossed the river from So. Phila. Living in Kansas. And I've seen most of the countries of the other site members: Phillipines, England, Canada. Not Belgium, unfortunetly, I hear it's quite nice there.

So.... What country are you visiting from?
I see from the replies that various "states" have already checked in here and am happy to report that things are well in the "country" of Texas . . . Plano, Texas to be exact.![]()

Gidday! From New Zealand, Had to vote "other" because I am a bit south of Asia.
Very few GTs here - my 1972 model, in Christchurch, and two others in a city 1,000 kms away (Auckland) - neither of which I have seen yet.
May be another one or two hidden away somewhere as this is a nation of "petrol heads". There is one or two of most everything ever built in the country somewhere.
It would be a bit lonely without you guys!

First post to the forums btw, looking for some good Manta info and tips as I'm restoring my 73 mentioned in the signature.. It was crashed in 75 (right side), partly repaired and dismantled, never run again until I bought it a couple of months ago, so now I'm trying to get it back on the road :-)

I live in colfax in. just about even with the three opels setting by the roadside, I have been trying to get him to sell me them, but he won't move, going to restore one someday. I just bought a opel from purdue student a couple weeks ago,Black one,Getting ready to restore i hope
So, would that have been Chris Blust's (aka "opelgt73", an engineering student at Purdue)? He was a regular on this and the classicopels site for some time, then sold his yellow GT. A short time later, he bought a black GT with a yellow and orange stripe, and then I noticed that he had sold it on eBay.
In any event, welcome!

Hey now I'm still a regular on the site!
True I have been through my share of GT's. I tend to buy things in the summer when I have a job, and being a lowly college student I end up selling them in the school year because I run out of money.
I still have one GT though, the one in the photo album that I got from Alabama with A/C, doesn’t run or have a nice motor like the one that I sold. I am just saving it for when I get out of college and can afford a compete restoration. Or until I run out of money again and am forced to sell one of my prize possessions.
I will be updating my website soon with the pictures of that car.

Oops, SORRY Chris. I thought you were down to your last GT. But I kinda knew you'd be back. Hey, get the darn Engineering degree and start making money in the WINTER! I bought my first GT back when I was in Engineering. Sold my fully restored '61 Bugeye (Austin Healey Sprite) so I could afford 2nd year tuition, and bought the GT as an reliable and affordable Daily Driver that had a heater and roll up windows. FAR cry from my current DD. A '02 Lexus IS300. Life gets better when you work regularly. Or at least you can afford better toys.

That's usually true, Keith, unless you have a wife that likes to spend the family cash for "household" items. Took me 17 yrs to stop that and start working on my toys!

Kwilford, Yes that was chris's gt. kind a glad he ran low on cash. not really, but i sure like his GT. Going to be fun bringing it back to life. All the hard stuff is done and am i glad of that. I am from Australia and I own a 1972 GT. I guess I am a bit like JimGT from New Zealand, kind of lonely! From my last count there are approximately 7 GTs in Australia. There are probably a few more, but they have not surfaced yet.

It should be stamped on the side of the block, I don't know about anyting outside the american market but I assumed that all 75's came stock with the FI system.
