Yep, I have saved it already. I was thinking we could put it in the downloads section for others that come later...

    Update! Update!

well the crank went out to detroit last week. took the block into the shop to get bored and head to get thermal cleaned. I also took the flywheel to get setup for the S-10 clutch and pressure plate. and i got pics.

cost total of $151 to get the flywheel surfaced, drilled, tapped, and balanced. $107 for the clutch kit new.

now its time to just hurry up and wait

Awesome clutch photos! By the way, I just bought the s10 clutch kit for mine and it was $79. I was pretty happy with that. I still need to confirm it fits my transmission spline, but no one seems to me having an issue with that.

By the way, where in Detroit did you send your crank? What was thier price?

i sent it to Crankshaft Craftsmen $530 plus shipping to get it back to me another $30.

$79 was for the reman here and $99 for a brand new clutch kit.

Thanks. By the way, these guys are in the section of Detroit you don't want to be caught in at night. If you have any issues and need someone to stop in and see what is going on, let me know. By freeway it is only about 30 minutes away, and I drive past there pretty often for work.

Chris, that will be a quick ride!
My next big Opel project will be a clutch upgrade like you are doing. Even with my slightly modified motor, the stock older clutch is barely enough to take hard driving. Will have to do some reading to see what needs to be modified.
    Thanks for the pictures.

Other than getting the rod ends opened up for the chevy pins, are you doing anything else to get them reconditioned?

I was debating if I needed to get mine shot peened or anything. I am not sure what all is involved in getting them 'reconditioned'. Also I saw you cleaned them up, did you also lighten them?

    THanks,
    Steve

    THanks,

Reconditioning the rods mean making sure the big end is true. i also had them shot peened too. I ground off any excess metal from the rods exept from the weight area, but did round the corners. I didnt lighten them but I did match them to the same weight. 612 grams

Did you go with the offset grind method for getting the 2.4 displacement?
