    Supplier recommendations.......

OK, OK!! I know I've used my two threads for the day, but......

I haven't seen any threads for good, trusted, honest parts suppliers. I know about Opels Unlimited in So. Cal.,and Opel GT Source in No. Cal.,, but who do you all use for your parts?

Leave me any phone numbers or site addresses that you have.

    Thanks!!

There's a reason that those two are so popular!
It's Because they're pretty much the only ones here in the States.
Although I think there might be another one back east....Guys?
Otherwise you'll have to go overseas for parts....

I would like to Strongly recommend OGTS in Sonora. My father used to own the GT I ave now, and he's been using them for years without a single problem or mistake. Not only that but the gentlemen working there really know their stuff!
As a bonus, I'm in Sacramento, so it's a wonderful drive down HWY 49. The only problem is that i have to take a weekday off to make the trip.

    How's this for service?

    Opel Parts & Service Inc
    1478 Spring Meadow Lane
    Suffolk, VA 23432
    757-487-3581

Can't tell you anything about them, as I've never spoken to anyone there, just happened to run into the listing for them on www.whitepages.com (search opel parts in VA). If you happen to do any buisness with them, let us know how it goes.

I don't believe they are in business anymore.

Opel GT Source is a call or an email away and can get you the parts in a day. Gil is reproducing a lot of GT parts (Lens, sidemarkers, window rubber, etc.) we should support him when practical.

Charles Goin has a business, Goin Manta, based out of Richmond, VA. He can get most parts for the Manta.

    You are correct sir....
Opel Parts and Service closed a few years ago, Tom Thevenin (started the company) had been doing Opels since the late '60's. Everyone has their threshold!!

They knew their s**t though, and had a comprehensive inventory of NOS parts. However, the lack of sales in recent years and the zoning laws trying to get him to get rid of 'junk' cars pushed him into retirement. Can't say I blame him!

It is odd however, that the address you have listed is not their old one. So MAYBE Tom's brother Toby is still dealing in a smaller scale with Opels still?

Charles Goin out of Virginia sells part for Opels too, he's a Manta specialist but many mechanical parts cross over. I hear the owner is a closet BMW lover......

Eric Pare of North Carolina (?) sells part for Opels too, I think his company is Orphan Imports? He's an Opel enthusiast as well.

Bill Daley still dabbles in Opels, he's from North Brookfield Massachusetts. Mostly used stuff, some NOS. Hard to get ahold of sometimes.

The aforementioned OGTS (Highly recommended by yours truly), and of course Opel's Unlimited. Your results might vary.

Jim Marchitto out of southern California is another Opel parts/cars dealer.

There are also probably another 10-20 individuals that deal out of their own houses, mostly to regional Opel owners. Some sell used parts, some sell new stuff, some repair cars, etc. Guys like Otto Bartsch, Marty Reimer, George Foose, Ernie Bello, and many more, more than I can remember.

Just noticed this post. Anyone ever get in touch with them?

I have a feeling this is the phone number for Tobbie Thevenin who used to be the "younger" brother to Tom, and they ran the old Opel Parts and Service.

BTW anyone that may have known the Thevenins', When Opel Parts and Service retired. Tom moved to Jacksonville, FL with his wife. Tom has since passed away, in 2000 I believe.

Most the A/C parts for our Opels are off the shelf items at the GM Dealers. It was only the internal parts of our GM systems, and the hardware to mount the other bits that were unique to the cars.

The main reason I posted this was to see if anyone had contacted the Sussex,VA company. I will call tommorrow and see if I can find out more.
