Gary this is just about the best thing that could have been added to the site...Thank you very much...![]()
I am pleased to announce the launch of the OpelGT.com Opel Tech Center. This launch adds a new level to OpelGT.com and the Classic Opel Community. Reference and technical material will now be available with a couple of clicks of the mouse.
The Tech Center is a library of technical information related to classic Opels. Files uploaded to date include the Factory Service Manual (FSM) broken down by chapter, Opel Parts Interchange Manual, several articles written and submitted by members and other files gathered from the internet.
The Tech Center is running on a new program that is not tied into the forum member database. It will allow authors to upload and edit their work without the need for any web coding knowledge. Type, cut and paste, add a photo, click and it is published. Photos can be placed anywhere in the article or links can be added to existing work. If you would like to author an article contact me and I will set you up. A link to submit existing files, Posts, Threads or Articles for uploading by staff will be added soon. We have a wealth of data in the site to tap into. Volunteer authors are welcome. Credit will be given to known authors of the material.
With this launch, we now have the capability to convert PDF files to HTML for easy web viewing and printing, convert M.S. Office files to HTML, Edit existing PDF files, easily create new PDF or HTML files and on and on. The Purchase these programs was possible because of donations made over the past few months. I have not had the opportunity to thank all yet, but you can see the results of your support.
The OpelGT.com Tech Center can be accessed at: www.opelgt.com/tech

Wow, That is fantastic. I can't wait to be able to load the rest of my Willit? Phases, ( I noted you loaded Phase III). Really neat, and it will be a lotsa help to folks that need instructions to maintain their cars. I wonder if you could add Keith's really great threads on the rotating mechanisms to Wayne's article on the GT headlites. That would just about cover everything on them. Now if we could twist nobody's arm to slide in the differences on the early GT's, it would be complete as far as the wiring goes. Great Job Gary.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!!!
Hey, we now have a stable program for quickly viewing and adding files that won't disappear when a related program is updated. (great news for Ron and his Willet? articles)
Well, the Photo Gallery, Ad Board and Main Page program have all been upgraded. A new add-on is in place to help the site load faster. And, I finally figured out how to get rid of those "Chat" links in the google ads. Now there should be only site related links.

Found a fault in the text naming the Ascona station wagon caravan instead of Voyage
Opel Ascona;
driving one is like living on the edge.
Only built from 1970 - 1975
Actually it depends on what country the car was sold in. It has been called 'Voyage', 'Caravan', 'Sportwagon', etc. All are correct. For instance, we never officially got an Opel 'Ascona' in North America, we simply got the 'Opel 1900 Sedan', but it is the same car, just without the 'Ascona' badges.Originally Posted by 2 Fast 4 U
And for the first year or so of being imported, the Manta was called the 'Opel 1900 Coupe' here. We never had a 'GT/E' either, or an 'SR', just the 'Luxus' and the 'Rallye'.
A great wealth of info
Good job
Nice...easy to use. A great addition to the site. Very impressive!![]()
