    Reseating Fuel Pump Fittings

    I have a mechanical fuel pump on my '72 GT. It was replaced around 1990. While recently replacing my fuel lines, one of the fittings/outlets popped out of the pump. I reseated it with some light tapping, buts its come off again.

    Any suggestions as to how to reseat the fitting? As the pump is otherwise fine, I hate to just replace it.

    clean dry the fittings. Rough it up a bit and JB weld it!

    I had the same thing happen to my GT at 80 MPH the pressurized line fell out of the pump. Not a good situation. I replaced the pump and at some point will drill and tap the old one for a 1/8" npt barbed fitting.

    Its the carb-side fitting that came loose, not the one back to the tank. The fitting does not look warped to me.

    JB Weld might work until I get around to ordering an electric unit. Safe to assume OGTS has these?

    try www.rockauto.com that is where i got my carter electric fuel pump...easy people to work with and ship very fast...had it in like 2 days...

    i have a universal type rotory style fuel pump, cost me about $45 at Kragen.

    this one that i mentioned does not require a fuel pump because it is a low pressure pump...

    Thanks everyone.

    When I was poking around on OGTS, it appears that I need some sort of gasket/cap to block off the old mechanical pump if I go electric. Any tricks to this?

    yes, buy plate mount gasket, mount plate, take 2 bolts and tighten. Done. the nice thing about having electric is, the carb will be presurized before you starter engages, so the car starts right up, nice.
