i think thats the point of them

Found this swedish website. Maybe a couple of them can be used. I have those Bullet Mirrors myself, but I was thinking of those called Classic spegel as well. They don`t look too far from the original, I think.

The best looking mirror is from a Mercedes 113 chassis car ('69-71 SL). They are period correct, flag style and perfectly sized for the GT.

    Mirrors

Those are very nice Dan, if I ever run across a set I would give them a try. They are most likely hard to find and pricey if you do find some. Mercedes has quality parts but they are sure proud of them money wise. But you art right they are the perfect size and shape for the GT.

Dmcbrass, that looks great. When I get to the door stage, I'll have to get with you to get some measurements on the console and some pictures of the door jamb. Those are the same type I have. How's the field of vision in them? Thanks, Jarrell

There is a down side to these mirrors. They have to be located in a different spot in the door. This leaves the old holes exposed. (body work) The field of view is excellent with them mounted in that location. I can furnish you guys with the location when you get to that point.

I have mirrors from a 1981 Datsun/Nissan Maxima on my sons Manta, they are power mirros and look great on the Manta body. I didnt power them up though. But they are paintable to the body color and you can manually adjust the mirror.

I have a set of Buick LeSabre mirrors that are new, and were modified to fit the GT. I decided to use the Mazda Rx7 Mirrors instead because I liked them better. I will be bringing the Buick mirrors to Carlisle if anyone is interested, I don't have the control switch for them.

Found this picture from Opellane's yellow GT. You can see the grommet in the door jamb and the wire sheath passing through

I was thinking something like these. Anyone recognise the ones on the GT? The others are Camaro and Grand National

I can't swear to it without seeing the car in person, but they look like the early Mazda RX 7 mirrors I have for mine, just painted.

That's John Lewis's GT and the mirrors are made for Buick Le Sabre/Park Ave. Same as the pair on my GT. There are more pics of John's GT in BQS4's gallery on page 8 or 9 I think(also depends on how many pics/page you have selected... I think mine was on 18).

    Got my mirrors

I had a very productive day at the bone yard. They had three opel GTs there. My son and I grabbed everything worth taking. Bumbers, trim rings, Gauge panel and gauges, seat skins, door panels, lights, window trim, badging, etc. Next to one of the GTs was an older Chevy El Camino with sport mirrors. The driver's side was cable adjust the pasenger side was manual (roll down the window and poke at the mirror)--Perfect. we were able to place them up agains one of the Opel GTs to check for fit. Other than some very minor grinding at the base to get the angle right, they should fit nicely. They look like the ones in the Camaro picture I posted earlier. Also spotted an old MG (I think) near the Opels. Opened the hood and to my surprise there sat a Weber 32/36 DGAV with electric choke sitting atop a Cannon performance intake. There was also a beautiful custom header there. Unfortunately it mounts to the opposite side of the engine so it points the wrong way. Now here's the clinker... I walked out of there with everything for $50.

    Distance between the holes

Question: I have a mirror shown in this thread at my GT.
Would it be possible to put an "original" one (from Suselbeek parsget) on my door, whithout drilling new holes?

I've got a set of black "Turbo" mirrors on my red GT (pictured in my photos) which I really like the look of. They mount right where the originals had been.
