I am interested but it will be a few months till I can buy one.
I'm faced with a bit of a dilemma at the moment. I may sell my 1970 Kadett wagon due to storage issues. I will be converting my old attached garage into a much needed bedroom and this will leave me with no place to keep the Kadett. Now, I don't have to sell it, but it sure would make things easier if I did. This car is very original and unaltered. It has 59,000 miles on it, is in excellent condition, is dead reliable and originally from California. I bought it from the original owner and had it shipped here to Pennsylvania in 2001. The car is a high compression 1900 with a four speed transmission. It has a Pertronix ignition module, brakes including rotors, Weber 32/36 carburetor, shocks all around, sprint manifold and full exhaust, rear window gasket, NOS floor mats, clutch set, rebuilt cylinder head with hardened seats and tires all new in the last 3 years. We have taken it on family vacations every year since I have had it and I would not be affraid to drive it anywhere as it is. I will have it at Carlisle again this year if anyone would like to see it. Anyone who has been there the past 5 years will know the car. I really don't want to sell it but, for the right price I will let it go. So, is there any serious interest out there?

Arguing online is the same as racing in the Special Olympics;
no matter who wins, you're both still retarded.
Duane, if you want you can put it where you keep the manta and I will store the manta at my house. I PROMISE not to drive it.![]()
Huh, I never considered that idea. That's what I like about this group, everyone is always looking to help someone else out.

Or I will store it in Connecticut and use it for turbo evaluation....![]()
Sorry Charlton, you lose. When do you want me to deliver it Bob?![]()

OOH. that hurts. You know I would take good care of it. I would replace the rear tires when I was done with it.![]()
I would hate to see someone part with a much loved possesion just because of space.
Have you considered the option of a public storage unit? It may be costly in the long run but will keep the car close by for Sunday drives
Duane;
If someone would adopt the '68 Kadett I got, I could probably store the wagon in that spot until you get more room. If not we could have a "part the 68 out" party and roll your wagon in. Thoughts from this group?

I have considered a storage unit and even priced one of those "Pods". I also looked into a 12x20 shed with an overhead door on one end. It just doesn't make sense to spend money each month to store the car somewhere when my limited funds need to go towards building the bedroom. Also, having the car anywhere else but home will only mean it will get driven less. You would then have to drive somewhere to pick the car up so you could drive it. I still like Bob's idea so far...................

Rick and I could use it as our daily commute vehicle. We would just switch drivers every month.Originally Posted by MantAscona

I can ask my neighbor if I can store it for you. No cost. How long would it be in storage? Months, years? You are only 45 minutes from me so you could visit it every so often. It is a typical Pole Barn with a dirt floor(and hay). Just some possible options

This car actually was my daily driver until I got a company vehicle so it makes a great commuter car. Thank you for the offer Jeff. I will give it a bit of thought and talk it over with Lynn and let you know. Does your neighbor do turbo installations???

and what would that price be?
Maybe we can "borrow" one of the turbos from one of his Tri-Axle Dump TrucksOriginally Posted by MantAscona

I would let it go for $3,900.

Turbo, EFI Kadett might be fun. Tough part is fitting an intercooler with that minimal space up front. Wouldn't want to 'hack' the car to fit it.Originally Posted by MantAscona
You're not making this any easier. You're a bad influence on my bank account .......... but I like the idea! I have always wanted to lower the car a bit, not as much as the Manta, put a great suspension under it and good engine/drive train. It would be very cool with the body and interior left stock. I agree, no hacking the body, it's just too nice. I could easily be talked into this project.![]()
