    exhaust

    Does anyone know where I can get a header for my 70 GT I had seen an add about a header that was designed to bolt on just like origonal manifold without having to make spacers but I can't find it now

    ur best bet is to try and find a sprint style manifold...these were on the 75 FI opel cars...

    I had headers on my Opel from about 20 yrs ago, and if I remember right, it looked just like the one in Chris' pictures. I had a problem w/ it rattling against the heat shield next to where the passengers feet are. I got so annoyed with it that I took out the heat shield. Then all I had to worry about were complaints from the passenger about hot feet.

    *nods* now...on to my next question for you all:

    While we're talking about headers, I got mine out and am looking at it (it's sad to see the PO bought brand new pipes for the GT)

    I'm looking at getting an air/fuel mixture guage for the car, mostly for sh!ts and giggles, but I'm under the understanding I have to put the sensor along the exhaust some where, should I cut up my header (or at least put a hole in it) and mount same said sensor here or else where? Also, these headers are 2 inch pipe at the end aren't they?

    yea the headers come out as 2inch they should end with a collecter you can get the opposing collecter in reduced sizes if you want to stay with origonal muffler and resonator

  11. #11
    as to the sensor it usually should be where it can test the full exhaust mix after the collecter and before the muffler would probably be best

    Dan;
    The "collector" is the cone shaped end of the header just before it goes into the regular exhaust system.

    ah... that makes sense... you wanna evaluate all the cylinders...

    which... if you were to put a sensor on each pipe going down, wouldn't you be in essence testing the air/fuel of each cylinder? just a crazy (and i'll never do it) thought.

    it would be interesting tho... a 5 way switch, 5 universal sensors and one guage, flip between each of the sensors by moving the switch left and right or whatever. lol. it'd be as spiffy as that one gt in the albums here with the 20 headlights or so. lol.
