    Headlight wire enigma

I have started to rewire my headlights and I tested to see which white wire going to the dimmer relay was going to the high beam indicator and which was going to the engine bay for the actual highbeams, I found the correct wire and in the diagram it looks like it should go straight through the firewall, but from pulling on it, It seems that it is attached some how. I tested continuity from each end of that wire and I'm getting nothing but, according to the wiring diagram it's just a continuous wire that doesn't tap into anything. I'm just wondering if this for some reason it's attached to anything before I really yank on the wire.

    yellow or white?

    or.

either. lol. for that mater -

yelow wire goes direct from back of bulb to the bottom of the dimmer select relay (on fusebox between fuses and pedals, closest to outside kickpanel). the wires should be of the right color there. white is highbeams. yellow is low. white has a sistered wire coming off the female connector at the relay and that wire goes up to the blue lamp in the dash. otherwise, direct to lamps from relay.

ah. don't yank. drop fusebox. wires might be tangled with other wires.

I dropped the fuse box and sure enough the white highbeam wire goes into a weather connector with about 6 other wires....according to the wire diagram this should not be, is this something that could be stock or is this a PO thing?

When you look at it you may think that the weather connector I am talking about is one on the front or the side of the box, but it isn't, it just floats inside the box and the connector is white in color

Today is my last day to work on the GT before carlilse and in this condition it will not be ready. I have a major headlight wiring problem.

The high beam indicator light is on all the time, reguardless of if it has been flipped on or off, it remains on even with all of the wires off of the relay, The driverside light is on ever so slightly, the passenger side light remains on; neither are changed at all by the highbeam relay. I rewired everything and I was confident about it all except for one thing, there was a wire tap combining the Yellow and the white/yellow at the high beam relay previousily, when I redid it I soldered them together and felt unsure about it, should they combine there? it seems strange that they would and I am out of ideas, I've test probed everywhere, any other ideas would be great.

    Jordan,
According to the schematic the white/yellow should NOT connect to the yellow. Yellow runs by itself to one of the terminals on the hi/low relay.

its been a while since i posted, but:

    white wire - highbeam
    yellow wire - lo beam
white/yellow wire - Lights in UP position signal wire (allows twelve volts into the relays if the headlights are up, and only if.)

the three are definately all separate...

also, there's a post on the one relay that has TWO white wires. one goes to the headlights, the other direct to that little blue lamp in the dash.

if one beam is brighter than another, i'd check grounds.
