photos in posts

While trying to upload a couple of photos into a post today I experienced a hold apparently due to me having too many pictures posted in previous posts. If I delete some of the old photos do they disappear from the previous posts?

Was that for previous post total or total for that post. The limit was 3, just increased it to 5 per post.

When I went to upload another picture in a follow-up, it "hung" on "loading" the picture. After a little investigating, I ended-up at a page with a list of every photo I had ever attached to any post. From that page I could delete some, and after deleting a few old ones the new photo loaded right up.

hmmm... something new.

The Registered user group's attachment max was set to a default of unlimited. I just changed that to a large figure. Let me know if that works.

ive just had to dump a load of pics too
said it was an error and when i looked in posted pics it said they were in progress

Gary, Just successfully uploaded a pic to a thread on Addco Rear Swaybars and a wee red and green line came up telling me how many pics attached to posts that I had (2.18 MB) and showing remaining space at over double that at around 5MB so I guess that is how much space I have allocated for pics attached to posts. If that is of any help.

I set the max to 5 meg. So that part is working.

Perhaps we need to re-visit the photo limit. RallyBob just posted that he was WAY over his limit. To not be able to post photos kind of defeats the purpose. Is there a system problem with allocating more memory, or is a program limitation? I will attach a photo as an experiment, as I must be WAY WAY over the 5 MB limit. Here's the 100,000th Opel GT

Keith, the attachment program stated I was 9.18 mb over my limit! So I've obviously posted more than my fair share of photos. If everyone posted this many, we'd probably run out of space in no time.

It's no big deal, it just means everyone has to have a better imagination when I post the results from my latest fabrications.....

That 5 meg figure was an arbritrary number on my part. It is now set to unlimited.

As for server space..... Space is not a problem. We have over 730 MEG available. So with 26,500 posts and 2,500 photos in the Gallery we have used around 1/4 of our capacity. I figured it will be 4 or 5 years before we approach capacity and then all we need to do is add more.

Keith and Bob are in the Moderators group which did not have an issue with the default setting.

Baz and oldopelguy are in the Members group and there was an issue with limits. I'll look into that one.

In the mean time keep those attachments coming.
