download printing

I just downloaded a section of the 73 manual
Looks great on screen but I wanted to print a couple of pages for the garage
However, when printed, it is quite distorted.
Any suggestions

Ok depending on your version of Acrobat reader it may distort. Try downloading a newer version or downloading the compete files to hard drive before trying to print. It's a big file so it may just be your computer, pretty hard to tell from here. If that fails you might want an original on CD.

dave i cant even open it on acrobat! had to use infraview
and when i tried it gives a very long print so an inch would be 3 "

Unfortunately, I've never dealt with the version here on site. I have an original that I use. Gary would know better of any changes to the original PDF format. From the original there is no issue with printing.

They were uploaded in FlashPaper format (.swf).
If anyone has the time to upload the pdf version it will be a big help as I'm flat out right now at work.

Right. What I did was break it down into sections that were a couple of meg each so it could be easily downloaded. Guess I should have kept it pdf instead of swf.
I'll try to look at it tonight.

whats wrong with just using that flash reader? it opens super quick and prints perfect. btw, its only when i went to print it, that i saw just how much of it there is, that must have taken weeks to scan, thank you so much, i never had an opel manual of any kind before

Sven is right. You need to view it with Macromedia's Flash Reader. Most browsers come with it installed. A graphics program like IrfanView may have "taken over" the default for .SWF files from flash reader, causing your print problems. Go to the file association option in your graphics program and uncheck .swf.

With Flash Reader, you can easily change the viewing size and scroll through the pages. There is a print icon in the upper right.

I just printed a section and it fit on regular size paper.

OK I downloaded as zips, tried opening with flash player(?), but I stiil get distorted prints myself!!!!!!!!!

I have the full file in both zip and pdf. I have the time to upload in entirety or break it up if I knew how.

Ok, I'm slow and have not found a way to chop up a pdf file or zip it small enough. On the other hand Namba, Ejprovost and Greensmurf all have original copies. Nothing has crossed the pond yet, but for shipping +50 cents for the disk I could be persuaded.

dave ever heard of a little program called win-MX its 1 of those file share wear progs
i use it a little for sharring info and stuff (nudge nudge wink wink say no more

)
could we get you to put it up on that and save the postage ?

the problem is the size of the file. Even Zipped it's larger than most sites or ISPs will tolerate. At even 15 meg zipped it eats up bandwidth like crazy. This is why Gary broke it into smaller parts for this site. Most sites that will allow that large of a file transfer charge for it more than postage would cost. I recently checked shipping on a disc to Canada and that was around 4 bucks.

I tried to Email it to Baz and it took forever and then bounced back. I tried the winmx and it doesn't like zip or pdf files.
