Gary,
I think I remember a tread talking about adding the zip code of the profile of members. This was so that you could get a general location of were everyone was. How did that working out? Is it working? Could we as members have the ability to see who is close by without posting a tread?

I thougt I would ask because it appears to be a nice application it it is available. (I am sure some folks like to keep their locations private so it would only be for those how do not mind people knowing what zip code they live in).

I left my zip blank- only because field states it was for future use & would only be visible to mods and admins... I just didn't see a purpose. In context of benncojrs purpose (and others like it), I'd gladly include it for reference- as a public/searchable field within this site. I'd probably even use it!

I'll bet 90210 would get a lot of false saturation!

Rick, I just got the latest Blitz package from Stephen that includes a roster of names, e-mail addresses and zip codes, for the specific reason to assist other Opelers in the area if they have problems. Kinda neat thing, I submitted all that info to someone either here or on the yahoo site a year or three ago, and I believe it was available by request for folks taking trips and same as the Blitz list, a heads up by e-mail saying that your were heading through a certain area and a stop by and say howdy, or, I can help, response would make the traveler feel a certain freedom on his trip.

The zip code request was for a forum add on that was "in the works" Like many other add-ons, this one was started and never finished by the developer.

The "articles" add-on is a perfect example of this. One was released in Beta, looked real promising, talked to the guy about using PDF files two weels later, he abandoned the project.

I still have hope for the Zip code feature. (and articles) vBulletin is testing a new, major release that changes the way add-ons are used. So I will not be putting new features on line until the upgrade is released.
