Unanswered: My "rare" Solex 40DDH woes
I spent some time e-mailing Alpha1750 and finally got his recommendations on jet sizing, chokes etc for the Solex and placed my order. It all arrived quickly, unfortunately, nothing fit. I sent him pictures of what I've got. His last email reads, "Hello Corey, i didnt find any of the jets that you require.what you have there is a very rare set of the solex carbruetors. if you dont need what i sent you then you can send it back to me and i will refund you in full." S^$t! I have spent considerable time cleaning this carb up and would really like to use it. I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet On the plus side, he was able to supply the 32mm chokes, and the main jets that were in it were the same size as he recommended. The rebuild kit will work with some trimming of one gasket and re-use of another. That leaves me with air and idle jets slightly larger than he sent. Here is a picture of the jet comparison. Mine on top. My main jets aren't pictured, but you can see the difference in the aire and idle jets. Any thoughts on using the original jets in the car? Anyone have any sources for obscure Solex parts they'd to share?

Help from German Friends
OK.
I belive that this carb most likely came as original equipment on the VW K70. Pictured here. I have found a German site that has the exact exploded diagram of the carb I have. Is there any Opelgt.com member who is fluent in German who can go to this site and find out if I can get parts from here? It has one of the gaskets I need pictured. http://www.ruddies-berlin.de/index2.htm

Multi - Lingual ...
It looks to me like Ruddies site is multi-lingual as there is a German, UK & French flag waving at the bottom of his Vergasser/Carurettor Page.
Go to his Home Page and send an English EMail to him - see what happens.

The "multi-lingual" websites are Google-Translations, and they are as bad as any other automated translation services.
I'm always here to help with German translations, and "services" like helping out doing transactions with Germany. And if you don't get what you need... It'll all be my fault... Dieter

Thanks Heimue.
I tried the translated version of the site and it is as you said - poor. I need to get gaskets #58 (Vergaser Deckeldichtung 40DDH K70 + 45DDH Sport Deutschland) & 62 from the exploded diagram on the site for the 40ddh K70 version, and to find out if he has options for the jets #8 (Luftkorrekturdüse mit Mischrohr / meist zwei Teile) & #9. If you send him an e-mail inquiring on availability and price, I'd appreciate it very much. If only available as a complete rebuild kit, that would be OK. Corey
