Talking Unanswered: Idle Screw Loose (Was "Hi Guys")

Hi guys,

I have one little problem with my carb. When I finished with adjusting screws (2 of them, 1- for gasoline, 2- for air) it is ok. Everything is fine, but after driving for a while, they loosen and the carb isn't working well. A solution how to fix this problem will be from a great help.

PS: Coming Soon - this summer pics from my ascona!!!

Hmm depending on wether you want to keep that carb a while or not check to see if the carb is damaged where the screws go in and maybe try bigger screw or replace the carb or put a dab of an epoxy in there then set them to where you want them and just hold it there until it dries, i know its kinda redneck but thats all I coudl think of for you right now

Mike,

You could try Blue Loctite if it is available to you, it will tighten up the threads but still allow you to turn the screw.

Or use perma- gasket #2 which dries pliable so you can adjust it too.

Just a thought: those screws should have a sealing o-ring, and depending on the carb's version !possibly! springs. Are these in place? Both these (o-rings and springs) add a good amount of friction that prevents the screws from backing-out...
