Unanswered: Solex 35 PDSI mixture screw

Hi everyone!
I've bought my 79' Manta a few weeks ago and started working on it for a few days now with my girlfriend.

We bought the car very cheap and it came with a lot of extra parts, however there are some other parts missing.. hehe..

Well we have a 1.9l-S engine with a Solex 35 on it.. After some research i came to the conclusion that a Zenith 35/40 belongs there, am I right?

Well to the point, we are trying to fix the car up to a point it runs ok, we are planning to upgrade parts later on, right now the Solex is missing the mixture screw (not the air mixture but the other one).

Does anyone know how I can replace it?
Can I put a normal screw in it with a sealer ring (with the appropriate length ofcourse) or do I need to sharpen the end of it, like in the picture (nr 25)..

Thanks in advance

hi and welcome to the site

i dont think you can use any thing but the right screw as it meters the fuel and so would not run without the right screw , i think you could maybe find a screw the right length and taper from another carb in a junk yard but the taper would have to be the same to work , you may have to buy the whole carb to get the screw if some one here does not have a spare as junk yards do not like selling small bits that makes the rest of the carb no use to any one

Hi Baz, thank you!

Well the engine runs with this screwless carb, but we have to keep hitting the throttle or else the engine stalls..

I hope I can find one, buying a new carb (Weber) will cost more than the car itself, and finding a used carb has proven to be more difficult than expected..

Does anyone know the measurements of this screw? pictures? This way it is easier to find a correct one (or try to make it myself)..

Thanks for the help!

I have a few junk Solex, but, not knowing the size and thread of the crew, I might be sending the wrong one. Can anyone find out the size of these screws? I might be able to help them out.
