Unanswered: Solex Carb Cleaning
I have the original dirty solex carb in my 74 Manta. I need to give it a good cleaning. Any suggestions on what to clean it with? Also, are there parts that shouldn't be touched? First time working on a carb. thanks! chris |

It depends on if you're going to dis-assemble the carb. If you're not going to dis-assemble, then GUMOUT makes a great spray on cleaner, but, it would be better if the carb was dis-assembled and cleaned.

Hugely inefficient unless you buy an actual siphon air gun but it does work really well on a budget.

The manometer is used to sync two independent carbs to act as one.
Theres always rules to be broken like the VV carb that ford used in the late 70's and early 80's. Anyway the solex downdraft is not one of ones that needs the special attention. BTW ez-off oven cleaner also works good.
