Question Unanswered: Solex condition?

I have 3 solexes kicking around and was wondering how to check if they will work as is, or if they need to be rebuilt..... or if they're more useful as door stops. I don't know much about carbs after the basic idea of what they do, so if anyone could give me some pointers on what to look for on them to tell what condition they're in that would be great. thanks.

If you're even thinking about doing this, BEST thing I can, and FIRST thing I would, suggest is to buy an Opel FSM (Factory Service Manual) . . . I prefer the '73 year, as it has an excellent Solex carb section in it with lots of pictures along with very detailed explanations.

Look on e-Bay.
