Unanswered: Stock Looking CD Player??

Pretty much as the title states, My dash has been cut and currently has a early 1990s vintage Pioneer AM FM Tape. I want to put in a cd player with modern features (cd, mp3, etc.) I was wondering if anyone knew of a modern cd player that isn't very flashy and noticeable. I just want a black, normal unit. Thanks.

Alot of kenwoods are very nice head units, black, and not too flashy.

mine is a kenwood. I really like mine its a little flashy but I like it and since my dash is completely custom I think it is an upgrade.

Panasonic head units

. . . I like the look of the Panasonic units that simulate the twin-shaft design of the originals and their displays are not overly gaudy.

I'm planning on re-installing the original Opel GT AM/FM radio.

So I've gone to a car audio shop. They're going to install an amplifier hidden in the back with input from the original radio, and from an MP3. The MP3 jack will be discreetly located in the center console, but located so it will not hinder the console's usefulness.

A selector switch will be installed to choose between the stock radio and the MP3 player.

I don't know the cost yet. It will be bid when the car comes out of the paint shop.

When I bought the car it had a hole in the dash and a Pioneer single DIN already installed so it should be no problem to slip another one in.

You could always create a blanking plate to cover the hole in your dash and hide the whole system in the spare tire area. Check out Secret Audio System Specifications. This is the route I went because I didn't care for the modern looking radios in a vintage car...not to mention I didn't want to figure out how to mount a radio in my already hacked up dash.

I went the Secret Audio route also. I put in the radio and a CD changer. They all fit in the back with the spare tire. All you see are the speakers in the back wall of the storage area in back. My dash has been cut some by the PO, but I've got a stock radio I plan to put back in. I'm not going to hook it up, just want it to look right. I may have to make something if the hole in the dash is too big right now.
