Unanswered: Any not wanted Pioneer headunits?
Does anybody have a Pioneer headunit that he does not need? I mean faulty units, that have been out of order, like with broken CD mechanisms, bad/no FM reception and the like... Anything that it is hidden somewhere uneeded, instead of being thrown away... I have a DEH-P5100 that a muting chip on the pre-out section went south, and now I get a "thumb" from my externally amplified speakers every time I shut it off... The problem is that I can't find these chips locally, and even on-line I would have to buy a whole reel of 3000 for $600 (they are SMD) . From a talk with a local electronic's shop, he says that my best bet is to find a faulty headunit and rob it's muting chips... Local car-audio shops can't help...Most units during 2000-2005, and especially models starting with 3/4/5, (e.g. DEH-P5100) are good candidates, though if you have something else, please post it's model and I can find out from service manuals if it has what I need... Of course I will cover postal expenses should one is found and available... Thank you in advance! Antonis

Guys, maybe if anyone is into electronics, and visits shops with electronic parts regularly, he can help me locate the actual chip I need.
It is the "IMH3A" made by Rohm, and suitable cross-reference is the "RN1610" made by Toshiba. The chip is actually two NPN transistors, with bias resistors, in a SC-74 package. Quantity needed: 5

Gene, thank you for your reply! Unfortunately that e-shop does not stock the part I need...
BUT, a few minutes ago that I checked my e-mail, I had very good news! The manufacturer agreed to send me the parts, as free samples (that's how I requested them) for experimenting! It will take some time, a month or so, but they will send them! A week's quest came to a positive end! Patience is the key now!
