LA QUINTA INN & SUITES NASHVILLE AIRPORT/OPRYLAND
2345 ATRIUM WAY
NASHVILLE, TN 37214

Mention (OPEL CLUB)
The group rate is $115.00 per night with 40 rooms blocked, check in Friday Aug 11th, Checkout Sunday the 13th. I will be keeping a close call on the amount of rooms, I would plan to secure your room ASAP, but there is a three week cut off up until August 11th. I will get more rooms if I feel we are going to fill it up more. Hotel is an easy trip to the venue, convenient to Grand Ole Opry and the Opryland Hotel. Plenty of parking in a secure area, outdoor pool, and we have the large meeting room reserved. Close to the airport also for members who wish to fly in.

Just tried to make my reservations at the hotel. Since this is going to be a "blocked" section of rooms, the people at the phone number above can't help you. You need to call 1-866-527-1498 and only on weekdays after 7:30 AM Central Time. I'll try again on Monday!
I was told there wouldn't be these problems, I'll try to call the manager tomorrow and find out. Seems like that is always the issue at the Carlisle hotel, have to call during a business day.
OK... Signed up for the hotel for the Nashville Nationals. Calling the number: 1-866-527-1498 is the way to go. They have all the block of rooms information. Very nice lady took my information. By the way, I checked and I'm the first to sign up. Better sign up now!
If you have something temporary, or can tell me what it is and it's something I can approximate, I can put it in the Blitz. Give me some text to go with it and I'll give it a half page and devote a full page to the event.
Keep sending me stuff and I'll get it into each issue.
Thank you Keith, Harold and everybody else involved in organization of this event. My wife will come with me and we will likely make one week road trip with the GT, returning via Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, Roanoke and Pittsburgh, some 2000 miles.
It is really important that while in Nashville, we get a chance for some sightseeing and group activities, rather than just a car show. Whatever you guys are planning (should I say “yall”) let us know well in advance. Don’t feel that you are alone in planning this event. Aside from loving country music, I am not familiar with Nashville but those who are might come with some suggestions. That will help you but also allow us to adjust our personal plans. Upcoming Carlisle Saturday evening b.s. session could be utilized for some discussion related to Opel Nationals agenda.

PJ (and others using Google maps) the average speed for your trip is over 62 mph. The actual time for each leg does NOT include any gas stops, viewing interesting things, eating meals or any other breaks/off road time. My experience on most of my trips over "unknown" roads sets 55 as a more realistic goal and I am not driving a 44 to 48 year old car. Before you make any plans for places to spend the nights (or how long you will actually be on the road each day), take another look. Also not included is sight seeing stops. HTH -- Doug
I am going to try to get us a spot set off at the Parthenon for a photo op, and it is an art museum as well. It's pretty impressive. May try to do some down town activities just need to play that by ear, as parking is off a bit from a lot of that...so trying to include something with the cars. Harold is thinking the Gerst Haus for dinner, which it actually looks like a good menu with all around food. (Harold will correct my spelling if I got that wrong on the restaurant).
Friday we are meeting at the Museum and there are two special venues, the basement tour (which will be Saturday) and the Nissan Heritage Collection....which we know some people that manage that collection and hoping to get the tour of it for the Friday folks. We still have to fill up time, and yes, my shop is about 80 miles east of the show venue, and if all goes well, I can be open for a Sunday afternoon tour, or even through the rest of the week.
This issue of the Blitz is going out today and I never got that graphic or any other announcement for this even so I made up something (attached). I hope that works for now.
It will work, I expect the artwork for show to be done next week, I assumed Daytona Trophy could do artwork, I assumed wrong, so have a local marketing company designing it right now for flyers and such
Here is the sample artwork for the show, a lot of tweaking and redraw to be done, less blue, city too realistic compared to cars and music note emblem needs a lot of clean up, but wanted to share
So I was at the place doing the artwork and I just was not happy with it but was going to settle after a few changes happen, but then they show me a different one that is more realistic, and it really popped. I have a few changes but here is a picture I took while I was there. Should have something final this week
Does anyone know if there are any recommended RV campgrounds close to where all the action is going to be? Or are there any Opelers out there who will be towing their Opels to the Nationals? I was thinking about bringing my RV and towing the Opel. Any thoughts?

Talking with the museum, it may not be a good idea to camp there, but near the hotel, about two miles up is a place for RVs called Jellystone, it's across from Opryland Hotel entrance.
The Museum has a paved lot in the back that is fenced in, they said you can camp, or RVs and such. I wouldn't camp with tents though, it is right up against the interstate so it is probably pretty noisy. I asked about trailers and they said you can leave them at your own risk, as they had one stolen from out back not too long ago, but if you are there camping, it isn't really an issue. I will check for any local campgrounds too though
Hemmings Motor News ad is out in the printed book, just got a call. Dash Plaques ordered, and registration packets requested. We will have a registration that will take place at the show, Friday and Saturday.
This packet will have maps, your dash plaque and museum entry band. You do not need to have a car present to register. This way you can get your passes and momentos.
Show starts Friday the 11th at the Museum 10:00-5:00.
Saturday begins at 10:00 also.
A schedule of events will be placed in the registration packet, and plans are still being made.
