1972 Opel

Just come back from the Wasco car show. Saw car in question. The gentleman selling the car is not the owner but an agent for the owner who is said to be in Afganastan? spelling and topic. Car looks great, has a few dents that should have been popped out. Paint (Orange) looks too good to be almost 50 years old. Maybe a lot of wax and buffing. inside looks very good, small bruise on divers seat probably normal for 52K miles.

I did not see or hear car running. He arrived and left before I did. Chrome looked perfect. Carpets looked like new. As for price, he will dicker. He almost came down to my buy it right now price. I say get it before it goes back to Belgium.

I tried to post some extremeely large pictures that would not go thru. I will post pics on Facebook and maybe a link to them there from here

Thanks for the good words about the Opel GT Sawdust. The car must be sold. Offering aggressive price for anyone is serious about purchasing the car. Contact me if interested. The car will be at the Cruse Nights Car Show at the intersection of Army Trail Rd & Gary Ave in Bloomingdale IL Parking lot H Between Burlington & Macy,s on Wed July 17 from 5-8pm

Is there a collection of pictures of this car anywhere. Most links here seem to already be expired now.

Thanks

Thank you Sawdust for checking this car out. I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong for calling someone a scammer and I'm sorry for that. There was something "off" about this, and a middleman trying to sell the car for the owner would explain it. I'd say $17,000 for this car is still too high, if your audience is American buyers. The agent trying to sell this car should contact Suselbeek or Splendid Parts over in Europe. I'm sure a European buyer would easily drop $15k for this car if not more. The European market for the Opel GT is just a lot stronger and always will be.

First I see it have a nose punch. And fact is:You must add costs arround 3600 to 4000 Euro to get the car here ever.
So you can buy a allready with paperwork done GT better here in Europ in that price range.
What should Suselbeek or other supliers take for a not rebuild car then??I think only by the old rubbers, wires and
Mile ranges at all. Okay all US-GT`s have arround 50k miles when stored

A month ago, when the deal from Thomas and Ron come not together,Thomas buy a same Fire Glowe US-GT in better class like this GT here for 13.000 Euro ready to drive with Historic plate and all done.

I just remember 2016 when Colonel Mustard would sell to Germany.First it looks good but then it was restored two years. Now it look soooooo great in my colors of dream. For me the 72-73 Rally Gold with tan is the best what you can get in color for a GT

I sold a nice GT for 17500.00 a year ago that I would say mechanically it might be better than this car, and the paint was really nice, but the engine bay was painted black. This has a nice look to it, and I think the right person it would sell for that. Maybe not from this middle man, but through a consignment shop, it might bring more.

Can you tell us what it sold for and if the buyer was American or European? This info helps us understand the market, and this is a GT worth noting for valuation.

The radiator shroud is missing on that one, Norbert!! damned car is worthless now.... 😝🤣😜🤣😂&#x1f 923;😂🤣

Very nice. Is it still listed at 34k Euro?

I do wish I had started looking and seen this thread a few weeks ago and focused on the car that started this topic. I know I'm looking for a 1.1, but that 1.9 would have been a gem to have too.

I do like the lightweight frame the chassis is on while the paintwork was taking place. I'm looking to build a jig to hold these chassis that will rotate the body as well.

By the way, who is our resident body/paint prep subject matter expert (SME)?

Thanks Norbert! Yes, I did it again.

I am looking forward for this nice GT. Today the GT will pickup from the cargo company.
The seller was very friendly and I was the first that he call him.

A few others have thought about selling Opels to those of you in Europe but were not sure how such a transaction was done. Perhaps you could walk us thru what it takes to make such a transaction happen.

I am not an expert. It's the third time that I purchased a GT from USA.
For some sellers it's important that the GT comes in good hand and not to a dealer. I am not a dealer.
I make a contract for used cars, pay to sellers account and then you need a cargo company. In this case the seller help me to find a company for shipping.
Now it's time for waiting.
