    Does ordering Opel stuff count???

I've been treating myself... which means giving in to my addiction. I've been buying stuff.

eBay has been my place to shop lately for Opel stuff. Things I've bought recently....

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Buick-...72.m2749.l2649

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-197...53.m1438.l2649

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Alu-Nockenw...72.m2749.l2649

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Z%C3%BCndka...53.m1438.l2649

I now have a bunch of Opel documentation. I own...

-1 copy of the Opel Kadett Dealers book
    -A 1969 Opel Salesman's Pocket Directory
    -1 copy of the 1974 Opel 1900 / Manta Owner's Manual
    -1 copy of the 1971 Opel Model 31, 36, 39 Owner's Manual
    -1 copy of the 1972 Opel 1900 Model 51, 53, 54, 57, 57R Owner's Manual
-1 copy of the 1970 Opel GT Owner's Manual
-2 copies of the 1972 Opel GT Owner's Manual
-An Opel 1971 Consumer Info booklet for Opel 1100 Model 31, 36, 39
    -An Opel 1972 Consumer Info booklet for Opel 1900 Model 51, 53, 54, 57, 57R
-An Opel 1972 Consumer Info booklet for Opel GT
-An Opel 1974 Consumer Info booklet for Opel Manta Model 51, 53, 54, 57, 57R
-3 copies of the 1972 Emission Control Systems booklet (it just happened lol)
-A 1974 Opel maintenance schedule pamphlet
    -A 1974 Opel Accessories pamphlet
-A 1974 Opel Emission Control Systems pamphlet
-A 1974 Opel new vehicle warranty pamphlet, blank!
-A 1971 Opel new vehicle warranty pamphlet, blank!
-A 1971 Opel new vehicle warranty pamphlet, has info and is rather beat up
-A Buick / Opel Welcome Letter packet, unused and in great condition

I'm always the first to admit that I have problems. I'm an autoholic and now I get to sink my entire illness into all things Opel....

PSA is shutting down the R&D wing of Opel, which includes Opel's headquarters. I wonder if we could request any classic Opel records?

Did you remove instrument panel without removing AC console first? I found that impossible on my GT.

As much as I hate these little varmints, I can't help but be impressed by how they always seem to somehow find their way to the most inaccessible
    spot in any car.

Now is a good time to get rid of that huge fan and replace it as shown in the picture. That will give you a lot of space for future DSDs or EFI and still preserve the heater, unless you feel pity to deny home to rats.

PJ - Do you have any idea of the CFM rating for the stock fan? And could you provide some details on what your replacement CFM is and its source? And, last question (for now), would the heater work better with the part outside the fan blocked off so only fan air passes through the core (higher velocity)? OK, I lied, one more question (as required on the forum), do you have any more pics: installed in car, etc?

I have no idea regarding capacity of original fan. The replacement fan has 252 CFM which seems to be fine as I seldom use it. Actually, it should be possible to install two of these fans one beside other. I didn't as I could not wait for the second fan to arrive while my project was standing still.

I have attached few pics showing more details of heater box modification. As my car was already painted, I used pop rivets rather than welding the box cover.

PJ, I had no trouble getting the dash out with my AC console in place. I just loosened it a bit is all.

I got the heater back together and I’m letting my numerous repairs to the cluster cure overnight. I cleaned all of the contacts, replaced a burnt part of the lighting circuit, fixed the clock (my fourth successfully repaired clock out of 4), replaced all the lights, and put dielectric grease on contact points.

I hope I can put everything back together tomorrow. I get very very antsy when I can’t drive my car. 3 days without it being drivable is far too long.

Well, I have not done any exotics on the car but yesterday I tinkered with the Choke on the Weber 38 and then went for a nice 40 minute drive. In the middle of December, in Michigan we don't get many dry days in the 40's. Most of all, driving the GT put a big smile on my face just as she has done for almost 50 years!

It looks gorgeous! It was almost worth the pain of removing the dash to make it look so nice.
