I like the 69-70 stock wheels and High Compression engine, the 71-73 rear axle, 69-72(and early '73) Tail lights. 69-71(and early '72) international symbols on the rocker switches. '71-73 Pop out windows and Euro lights where the US models have the big front orange turn signals. Oh yes, a KPH speedometer and a 5 spd. Sooooo my answer would be a Hybrid of all of them. That is what my '72 looks like, but I am keeping the '72 stock wheels(circles around the rim) and I haven't gotten to the High Compression motor or 5 spd yet.

    73

73 was my first one and the most fun. I like the wheel design, open side windows and chrome. I've had a 69, 70 and 71 too but the 73 is my favorite.

The Aero GT. What the GT really should have been. Lift off Targa roof. Sugar scoop sail panels and flat rear glass like big brother C3 Corvette 1968 to 1977. True open air sports car motoring.

To me, all factory GT's are exactly the same. Next to A/C, or a small engine, the only obvious difference that ever catches my eye is pop out windows. I guess those are early ones.

A/C was a dealership add on, so that doesn't count.

The smaller displacement engines do nothing for me and only the early hi comp 1.9's are worth a dang.

So, I guess 68-70 GT's with hi comp 1.9's and pop out windows are my faves.

The year is irrelevant, GT's are just plain cool and once you make it your own nothing else comes close!

Pop-out windows were introduced in 1971. I kinda like those too but I have never had a car with a set. I am really liking having a '69 GT with all it's subtle differences but heart belongs to the '70 model year that I drove for years. Maybe my mind will change when I can actually drive the '69.

    I like 69.

    Really! What can I say...

You know, the hight compression engine, the rectangular indicator lights and the flat rear panel.
I really never got the feel for the license plate recess.

I do like pop-out windows but can live without them too.

OGTS' Conrero tribute GT. Handsomely bad-ass. Aggressive.
Next would be the Targa GT built by Dennis, formerly of OGTS.

I, too, like the New Opel GT/Solstice ones, but with the super rare hard tops. I also prefer the Saturn Sky front ends to the Solstice ones, but I hear that they aren't very swapable.

Does anybody on our site have one of the removable hard top ones?

    Also agree with heliman.

and I like my GT/J with black parts. Especially my GT/J - "black Gascap" without a key....
Ok , it's not the question.... but I like it to say it......

Gordo, I don't know if it's removeable, but, Otto Bartsch (tekenaar) has a hard top Solstace.

    Favorite GT

Well, I got my 71 brand new, and I got my Saturn Sky brand new. I guess it would be OK to say the Sky is a GT cousin anyway. My heart is still in the 71. While I occasionally see a Sky on the road, I don't think that I have see an Opel GT on the road in years. The 71 was the first of the dumbed down engines with lower compression. I have a 2.4 engine in it now, but it still needs some detail work to get it on the road. So my vote is any Opel GT.
