Lotus built the Opel Speedster and Vauxhall VX220 in early 2000s with
GM Ecotec engines. So Opel & Lotus are sort of Kissin' Cousins.

Work delayed me getting out the Blitz sooner but I should have it out this weekend. Electronic versions will arrive immediately, print versions about 5 days later.

This issue is 95% done. It just needs a few touch-ups from the authors then a care read-through.

I'm going with a photo of Joe DeBattista's Kadet for the cover. I have two very nice photos to chose from, and picking one is difficult, but I am leaning towards the one where the car is in front of the building. The color is warmer than the other, and the car sparkles more.

Thanks to everyone who helped and who submitted articles and photos.

I vote for number two. That looks like a magazine cover picture, the other one doesn't to me.

OK, would that be the "#2" as they are numbered, or the "#2" as they are in line?

    Just wondering?

A good photo eye would select the shot in front of the building. The picture with the kadet in front of the cemetery arch is spoiled by the burst of sunlight captured through the camera lens.

I prefer the second shot with the starburst of the sun. There's shadowing at the rear of the car in the first shot that downplays how nice the car is from front to rear. The focus is all on the grill and front end. I think the second shot shows how nice the whole car is and that unusual twinkle of the sun puts a bow on it.

    Choice number two.

The picture with the arch in the background really displays the car.

I'm hearing from west coast people that their print copies are just now showing up in the mail. I guess it'll take a day or two more for it the arrive on the east coast.

I've started preliminary work on the next issue. It doesn't have a theme yet but I am thinking of putting the emphasis on technical articles. I can also hold a couple pages for anything people want to say on the passing of PoorGT.

    Yup, me too.

Thank you for the embarrassing number of mentions of me in the issue.

If I can get motivated to do it, I'll try writing a "technical artical" about the basics of making a custom dashboard, as well as, the "other" article.

And also the other two articles?

If I succeed in finally putting rear disc brakes on the Tinyvette I'll have a story to tell. How about dueling rear disc brake articles?

The second issue of 2016 is now in the works. I'm hoping to get stories from Carlisle and other events. Of course I'll write up last weekend's Gold Country Fun Run event. There's a story from last year I need to get in, and with any luck I'll get Gordon's GTX story. Or maybe I should dedicate a whole issue to that.

Early versions of the front and back covers are attached.

Good looking photos! Great looking roads! I can almost hear John Denver singing "country road, take me home ...."

This issue is nearly ready to go out. I still need to get permissions on some photos, get Charles' write-up on Carlisle, and a number of other minor details, but most articles are written and ready to go. I'll probably top 45 pages again (I've budgeted for 45 pages, average), and with the word count currently at around 13,000, this one should keep you off the streets and out of trouble for at least an afternoon.

This issue features Gordon's story about the GTX. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Gordon, for the story and the inspired wackadoodle car.

Of course Gordon now gets the cover.

    I'm fodder for the paparazzi!

Maybe the National Inquirer or The Star will put on the cover next as proof that the Aliens have landed!

Just a thought, and I am looking for some feedback here.

Ya'll know in my past life I wuz a fertographer.

I still do shoots once in a while, and when I do, I usually do a pic or two, of the model, with my GT.

My reputation, back in the day, and the most consistent, compliment I ever got was.

"The Prettiest Girls in Texas," how does he do it?

So what I am thinking is.

Because there is a dearth, of pretty girl pictures with an Opel.

What if I spend the summer taking a few shots, of some of the prettiest girls in Texas with my GT, or any other Opel's that I can find.

Really Pretty girls, really good shots, fully clothed, nothing your wife would get mad about if you made it a poster, and hung it in the garage.

The Blitz could do a fall issue, at the end of summer and print a few. Maybe offer a download. or a CD, of an assortment.

(For a small donation to the Blitz)

That you could take to your local printer and have a poster made for the garage, made from a full size file.

I'm not looking to make any money. But my models always want to be printed, in a magazine, or somewhere, and if the Blitz, gets some donations, then Mike will have more money to spend on Tinyvette.

Just give me your thoughts, one way or the other.

One way, or the other, I am gonna shoot pretty girls all summer, but I just thought it would be nice to share.

I'm looking forward to it Mike.

Hey, if you are looking for an article, would you be able/willing to simply take some or all of my Opel Russelsheim Museum Tour story and photos? If you need higher quality photos than what is available from here or from facebook, I can provide them directly, up to about 5 MB each. Then maybe I can get my smiling face on the Blitz, like Gordo!
