Roy you left out the Ferrari...

As usual, Roy had quite a few compliments on his 1.1 GT.

Next week we are planning on the show at Indian bend and the 101 and on the 7th we hope to get a few more Opel's for the "Cars and Coffee" at Gainey Ranch on Scottsdale Rd. Starts at 7am and is over by 10 Lots of Big $ cars, like original Gullwings' etc., if you like that sort of thing.

Craig/Roy, Give me a call about the next couple of weekends! I'll either be driving my F-150 or the wife's Subaru, but would enjoy kicking tires (softly on the big $$ models). If you don't have my number, PM will work. Thanks! -- Doug

Here is a shot, from last year, of the Audi we parked beside yesterday.
    This one is a V8, a V10 was available.
Another pic of Jaguar that parked beside us. Yes I like old British cars, Had a '57 MGA.
I spent more time demonstrating GT headlamps than photographing cars so I didn't
get a photo of the newer Ferrari, but here are a few cars at location last summer.
The BLITZEN license plate gave me an excuse to talk OPEL.
And this is my all time Fantasy TestaRossa at Laguna Seca 2011.

The SS100 Jaguar has to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made, of any time period. The dimensions and curves are just perfect from every angle

It's a bit weird though, in the 30's SS (now Jaguar) didn't have a suitable engine of their own so they bought engines from Standard (who later become Triumph) and 10 years later they launched what was arguably the best engine of the era and one of the best straight six engines of all times. Jaguar is still around are still making beautiful cars, Triumph as a car manufacturer has been gone for over 30 years

Roy, I was at Laguna Seca about 20 years ago, during Pebble Beach Week, and was taking a close look at a TR like this one. I noticed something on the dash and started to laugh (people look at you as if you are weird when you laugh at $1+ million car), but the owner came over and said "I assume you saw it! Most people never do, or don't acknowledge it." We had a nice conversation and then I said "I'll be back as soon as I can!" This time he was a bit confused and asked where I was going. I told him I was going to get a couple rolls of nickels! Then he laughed! The cause of all of this: a small slot in the dash in front of the passenger with a smaller sign which read "To start game, deposit 5 cents." I didn't get a ride, but had a friend with a TR for a while!

So Allen, going to see the "Valley Ho" again, eh? I'm surprised that Vickie still lets you do that.

I'll be in Mesa during that time frame. There's a nice cruise-in just down the road from me on Fridays at 4 p.m. if that works for you.

Allen, either or both days OK for me. I'll pm my ph #.
Goy, as you know, but some may not, SS = Swallow Sidecar, then Standard Swallow,
possibly other variations along the way, finally Jaguar. ( SS sounded bad after WW2 ).
Early Swallow ornament was a bird, It flew before it leaped .
Chevrolet, GM US in the 60s popularized SS as Super Sport .
Doug and all, You won't need a nickle to ride around Laguna Seca in a different TR .
Run and play with # 12 D Type and # 15 Lister Jaguar, Pic here. And many more !

    SmileMy plan arrives

in phoenix @ 10:15 am, so I'm sure I'll be at the hotel Valley Ho by 12:00 noon and have time for lunch on Wednesday Feb. 11th.

Mt plane departs Friday @ 4:15 so I probably won't have any time that day. This is just a short business trip (some training).

If we can get together for lunch Wednesday, that would be great! It's always fun to meet other Opelers!

I've seen claims from various sources that SS also meant Standard Swallow but I've always leaned towards Swallow Sidecar myself. According to Wikipedia Sir John Black of Standard Triumph claimed the former was correct, he ought to know but then again he wouldn't be the most objective person would he .....

Either way, gorgeous car and I'm envious as heck

Rainey Ranch Scottsdale Rd. Sat. 7am

Roy and I will definitely be at this show tomorrow morning. Due to reliability issues I will not be taking an Opel. Roy's very reliable 1.1 GT and hopefully Irfan's 2.4 Euro Manta were at the last one I attended, back in October. Hopefully Mel will be attending with his Opel and a Doug w/o an Opel I doubt that Paul from Yuma will be in town and Allen Gage won't be here 'til next week.
    Did I miss anyone?

    More Scottsdale Cars

Irfan with wife, Craig, Doug, and I met in Scottsdale 2/7/15.
At least 2 guys from Germany joined us after seeing Irfan's Manta.
Chris, who has a white Manta for sale, and his dad visited also.
I rolled my H/lamps and started ZoomsJustFine for 6-8 people at a time.
Once when I went back to the GT a big Jaguar sedan (XJ ?) parked beside me.
The driver said he always liked the lines of the GT. I said "You have a pretty
nice car yourself". His reply "This is my daily driver, I have a Bentley Brooklands".
