    real shifter?

Anyone with an automatic tranny in a GT who's looking for a "better" automatic tranny shifter might want to consider this item on e-bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
Would be the parts you would need to hook a common aftermarket shifter right up.

    good call

Hmm, I guess that's why "driver's side" is not a very good description. I thought it said "right" side somewhere, but now I can't seem to find it. Guess it might work for my Kadett or a Manta then afterall.

Sure wish you folks that drive on the wrong side of the road would just give it up and convert to the right side.

    conversion?

Actually, if this fits the Manta/Kadett tranny, and would allow for a cable shifter to hook up, it might allow for a Kadett tranny install in a GT, right? Ah, more food for though.

    brackets

Those are the transmission brackets a person would need to make a universal racing type shifter bolt up to an Opel transmission. A good quality aftermarket shifter often has more positive shifting function making them safer in a situation where you need to shift quickly. They are also cable operated, vice linkage, which might allow the Manta/Kadett units to bolt in a GT and not have issues with the linkage for the shifter hitting the linkage for the lights.
