now it is time to say hello, but at first, sorry for my bad english.
My name is Olaf and I am from Germany. Those of you who have read the GT Love book may already have read something about me. Some of you might also know me from the Opel Nationals in Jean and from the 50GT Tour, which I drove with my white GT with the Grand Tour stickers on the doors. I've really experienced a lot with my GTs, but the 50GT Tour last year was definitely one of the best ever. I've had my first US GT (from SF Area) for over 30 years now and drive it to this day. And I`m the president of the European Federation of Opel GT Clubs.
Why is my name 68GT4ever? First, the GT is my life, second, I own the GT with the body number 17, in silver with red interior, built on October 11, 1968 and was then delivered as a press car to Italy. I'm about to restore this GT.
At the end of April, with the help of Gil, I bought the 1967 Rallye Kadett in Bamboo Yellow, which Gordy restored some years ago. This car is supposed to stay in the US, will be with my friend Rick (opelnut1) in Denver and I'll spend my holidays with it. In September, I'm back on the streets of California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. I hope once again to ride with someone of the other Opel Lovers.
See you soon
Hello My Brother Olaf and fellow opel nut
Very nice to have you on the site. I have talked with our mutual friend Chris here locally about your search for an Opel in the U.S. I was happily surprised to hear you had acquired Gordy Klug's old 67 Sharks Gill Kadett Rallye. Gordy drove it down to Springfield IL on a couple of occasions for the Route 66 Mother Road Festival in September before he sold it. Perhaps if you can make it as far east as Springfield IL in September you could attend the Route 66 Show and maybe talk with Gordy about the Kadett. He still brings either his GT or Manta to the show most years.
Welcome aboard Olaf! Please share some pictures of #17.
Time to say hello!
Thanks for the nice recording here in the forum.
@ opeljohn: My plan is to drive to Springfield next year when the Opel Nationals takes place during the Mother Road Festival. Then I also want to visit Liz and Chris.
And yes, meeting Gordy with Bamboo Kadett is also on the list. I had already written to him, but he has not answered yet.
