    Introduction

Hello, I'm new here. So, some words of introduction seems appropriate. I'm a guy of 44 from Holland. A learned mechanic.
At the moment at the stage what will I choose? A GT which appeals to me for its looks and relative simple technicality or a Mercedes Benz 240 D. The last one has the advantage of being able to transport the family (man + wife + 2 kids of 6 and 2,5 years) altough the car is intended for driving every day to work.
Also I have to add to this dilemma that a reasonable GT is hard to find here. To many have bin fooled around with. If anyone could give me some advise I would appreciate it.

If you have family and a commute, the Benz would be the choice. Then work on getting the 'fun car'. (The Benz would make an excellent parts chaser).

I have to agree on getting the Mercedes, but, to a point. You could get a Manta A or B series, an Omega, or a Omega Caravan. If you could find one, you could get a Ascona A "Voyage" I have two. Just as much fun to drive as my GT, but, with more room. All the mechanicals are the same, so, working on them is no problem.

Or find yourself an Opel Senator. Looks like a Benz but it is an Opel! I just picked one up here in the States. It is an incredible drive!!!
