    Tall driver comments....

    Hello all!

I am thinking about a GT as a project car, but I am concerned that it may be a bit tight as I am 6'2" tall 200lbs. Any 6 foot plus drivers out there? I would like to restore one of these curvaceous beauties but I want to make sure I can drive it comfortably. No need to dream until I am sure. I have an '80 RX7 with plenty of headroom, but can't see through the miata's windshield frame.... I am interested in the Opel as it will take up less space in my garage - and this was the first car I can remember desiring!!

    Thanks in advance!!

I'm 6'2 and closer to 225lb and fit in a GT just fine. The seat goes back pretty far which is great for those of us with long legs. When wearing a helmet my head does rattle against the roof. I've since learned to lean the seat back a bit more to prevent this...

I'm 6'2" 220lbs and I fit fine in a GT. Plenty of leg room and I don't have any problems looking out the windshield, so I'd say go for it!

I'm 6'6" and drove a GT when my weight was around the 200 mark and now as it hovers around the 265 mark.

My son is 6'7" and drives our current GT to school every day.

The only thing we do, besides running the seat as far back as we can, is lean the seat back. That gives more room for the head.

We have both raced this current GT in SCCA meets with fair times.

But the biggest kick is the looks from people after they see either one or both of us get out of it.

Good Luck and have fun. There really is a lot of leg room in them.

I'm 6'-2" and a svelte 195#. The real problem is the car is narrow. For cruising around it's no problem. However, I've tagged a curb or two while cornering hard - Your head will smack the roof next to the door.

6'4 around 240. I did fine with the stock seats, I have a little trouble with helmet room, esp with the seat in a proper driving position, with the race seats I found a good spot and bolted them to the floor, I still bump my helmet but it isn't too bad.

The only problem with laying the seat back is that back shelf unit behind the seat obstructs it some what.

No wonder I need the seat at full forward position.
    5' 6.5"
I do have a friend though at 6' and he's always amazed how well he fits into the little GT!
