    another rescue story

Here is yet another rescue story of a GT. I have grown up with this GT in my garage ever since I was born but I have never seen it move. About a year ago I got a bug up my butt and wanted to restore it but I did not have any money then. Now that I am a working man I can afford it. So I have spent the past month or so getting rid of 25+ years of junk in the garage. Now I have the space the money now its time. I dug it out today to clean under it and to get some pictures of it. I had to hook it up to my truck and pull it out of the garage because the rear wheels are locked up. Thats what will happen when the car has been sitting in a garage since 1979. She is a 1970 1900. Little rust here and there but nothing i cannot handle. There is a little front end damage from where my dad hit a german shepard in 1975 lol. I just wanted to say Hi and share with you my new pride and joy. I have been poking around here for a long time and I know how much you guys love opels and I am thrilled to be a part of the group.

That looks like a very worth while project. Good luck and welcome aboard the SS Opelitis. May your voyage be a smooth one.

slick7272, That's a good looking car interior and exterior. You are ahead of the game simply by the fact that it was stored in a garage. A lot of ours were stored outside where the weather raveged them. Good luck and welcome aboard, there's a wealth of knowledge here on the board. Jarrell

    Welcome!!

Use the search engine on this site. Very helpful. First things first, get a late model GT rear so you don't have to "drag" it all over the place. The early model ones can't be repaired due to the lack of part availability(69-70). Good luck and take lots of pictures.

We want to know of any "treasures" you find in there from the '70's

Look in the forums group under Ohio/Western PA Opel group. There are a lot of great people who might be able to help you out with a rear end and a lot of other parts. Mach1Tom comes to mind. He has a lot of great experience with these cars. PM(Private Message) him.

    I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds.
