    Gordo's 1975 Wagon Adventure!

I just bought these two Wagons, supposedly both are 1975.

    1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg6.jpg9.jpg10.jpg11.jpg12.jpg

The plan is to ship them to a storage facility Charlie has in Virginia. He'll try to get the yellow one running and maybe give it a fresh engine for me. In exchange he gets the white one. That's the tentative plan.

I have to now work out how to get 2 non-running cars picked up. If anyone in or near Deming, New Mexico can help out, please let me know.

Well, I just had some nice chats with the seller and with Gene giving me advice. The yellow one seems to be the "keeper" and the white ones seems to be the parts car. The yellow one has the roof rack and all the chrome trim, a tan interior, and the apparently intact FI system. The white seems plain and the FI was removed and a carb installed. The cars were owned by a neighbor of the parents of the seller and they were being stored in the garage of the seller's parents. The neighbor was a big car buff and I don't know if the neighbor died or just got too old, but somehow he's not in the picture anymore and the parents of the seller ended up with the cars. No titles.

If anyone has titles for Mantas and especially Manta wagons, please let me know.

The fella was real nice and there's no hurry to pick them up, so on Monday I'll start calling around to see what picking up 2 non-running cars would cost. The cars are 20 miles south of Deming, NM, but the seller lives in Iowa. The parents are still there and there's a mechanic dude who might be able to assist with getting them out to the street. The seller told me that he had received a call from a German who wanted to know about buying them and shipping them back to the Fatherland. I got them both for $2200 and it will probably cost $1500-$2000 to ship them eastward. I think I got a pretty good deal.

One problem that might crop up is that the cars won't move because the front brakes are locked up due to swollen brake lines. Could you guys give me a list of suggestions on how to quickly free up the front brakes? I'm thinking: Cut the rubber hoses.

Crack open the bleeder valves. It's that simple.

There's a parts car or two near me. FYI

    Congratulations Gordon!
Trying to picture the Sport wagon given the GTX treatment.
Shoot for more of the first pic, and less of the second!

Ha! Maybe I'll make a mini-Ghostbusters wagon out of it! Ha!

Here's more pics from the seller. I don't have a clue what the bottom of a Wagon looks like, but from what I'm seeing, things are looking REALLY good:

I’ve been thinking about wagons lately, there were two for sale relatively locally to me I passed on. A small number one and a 74. Gone now but both were less than $500

Titles are going to be tricky, and should be your first priority to take care of after you get them picked up. I have ways of doing it, but it’s a bit time consuming. I don’t know NJ laws, but you might be able to do it there with the right information and keep it legal. Not as easy to just swap tags on those due to VIN stamped in the cowl channel. pM me and I’ll tell you what all you need

I'll get in touch with you.

Some wisenheimer posted this suggestion for "Gordonizing" my Wagon:

    29594663_10155415165352548_3400303271598573290_n.jpg

No! No way am I going to make the car look like a '57 Chevy!

Now, the house boat cab IS a tempting idea though.....

Actually, it's too tall to fit in my garage, so maybe I should go with a low rider modification concept with a chopped roof and a 6" high windshield.

No! Do not post videos of the Cheech and Chong mobile full of reefer smoke!

I have no real intention to modify the car other than the interior which needs work anyway. I'll probably put a more ballsy engine in it, but nothing outrageous. I like the rack and all the chromy bits on the yellow one.

The yellow Sport Wagon with the rack is also my favorit!
Stock 2.4 with fuell injektion and 4 speed AR35 with no problems in length measure by the drive shaft!
So you can use the hood bump out of the basement shelf
    Hope you get the titles

Ha! Ha! Ha! If I make the roof lower, so I can fit it in my garage, my head will hit the roof. I can put my 2 GT hood bumps on the roof above the 2 front seats for an extra 2" of head room! Wah! Ha! Ha! Ha!

No, my GT's are my wackadoodle cars. The wagon has a tan interior and I still have my beige leather Miata seats, so maybe I'll just redo the interior in tan or beige. Hmmm.....I think the fabric store has faux ostrich skin vinyl......that's sort of tan/beige...........

The main thing will be to redesign the Manta/Ascona dash and make a better center console.
