    Resurrecting the '72 GT

I've been sitting on a '72 GT for about 7 years, it's been abandoned since the mid 90s. I finally got a title for it a couple years ago. Mechanically complete, though I borrowed a few parts for my Kadett project which I'm not using and can now be reinstalled. Earlier this year, I shoved it into my back yard to get it out of the way, but now it's starting to bug me that it's my only car that doesn't run, and it could. So I'm cleaning it out, I'm going to replace the parts I borrowed, and hopefully make it run and drive. Maybe I'll run a LeMons Rally with it or something. As a car in this shape really isn't worth much, I don't think I'm going to spend much on making it pretty. This will be more of a "Roadkill" style resurrection. Biggest expense will probably be getting glass in it - if you don't count the brand new wheels and tires I'm going to put on it (purchased for my Kadett, but they rubbed badly). Structurally, the car is in great condition. Floors, rockers, etc are totally solid. I have had the engine running when I first got the car, but then I borrowed the carb and it hasn't been running since.

It looks like you have the same custom copper 90 at your thermostat housing that I have, I donít think thatís a OEM hose fitting LOL. It works fine though. I think the original was a 90į rubber hose wasnít it? It looks like some Por-15 restoration is in order there at a minimum. I love that yellow color, A friend of mine used to some kind of a clearcoat treatment on his pick up truck that shows the original rust, I donít know how you do that, on a pick up truck it would look a lot better. Looks like an original everything else too. Glad thereís people like you who are rescuing these GTís I see too many that got waisted on the internet these days. Best of luck, it should be fun to follow if you decide to post your progress hope all goes well.

If you want a 90ļ hose, this is a nice generic cut-to-fit piece. I've already ordered one for this car.

Itís certainly not much for looks (the copper 90) thatís for sure. I just put one in my cart to add on to one of my next orders. I didnít think they made those anymore tks.

The hose I linked was not the one I thought, both legs are equal length.

The part I was actually thinking of was this, one leg quite a bit longer than the other: https://www.amazon.com/Continental-E...dp/B000C32N28/

And here is another, of a lesser ratio: https://www.amazon.com/Gates-28466-D...dp/B000C2UDNK/

I did drive my GT around the yard last night. It's nice to have the engine sealed up and operational again, now I can at least start it up and move it around the property. But I really don't see myself doing anything with this car. It just isn't worth any investment.

Thanks! They are drag DR-27 wheels. Not expensive. I bought them for my '71 Kadett, but they were too wide, too much offset. They fit GTs great though.
