This story begins a long time ago, in a town not too far from where I live currently.
Cars go fast and make noises, I'M IN!
Now we're here. I've been oogling GT's for a while now and even began having bad thoughts about a Manta A road course V8 screamer. I was able to find the GT first and she (while ugly) has had a good start. No real rust (that we've found thus far) including the roof, fender wells, etc... Pretty sound car. Has a few dings and its fair amount of body filler, but I digress. drover her somewhat unwillingly onto the trailer and knew where to start first..... CARB REUBUILD.
Along with the car, I was handed 4 boxed of spare parts; Spare block w/pistons installed, disassembled head, intake, carb, trans, spark plugs..... decided while the hood was up, gap some new plugs and toss them in.
Put everything back together and it falls on its face every time we get on the throttle..... backfiring through the intake and carb, no balls when you hit the go pedal.... after sleeping on it for a night, taking the carb apart, making sure nothing was missed, checking dizzy points (found out she already has the conversion done....), making sure that...all...plug...wires....are....corr.......... .....DAMMIT! Flopped cylinder 2 and 3 wires! Put them back correctly and now she runs like a raped ape. Even got a half of a donut out of it all!
"Blitz" has had an interesting first week in my possession. Glad to finally begin building one of my dream cars. So much potential and so many avenues to take. Thanks Gordo for the phone call and info on Saturday, it helped. Look forward to rubbing elbows with y'all some more.
