They are rare and so not cheap. But this scale 1:12 is nearly a feet long.

I have a nice reverse light with no cracks, it's a little dull but could be shined up with some lense polishing compound. The cheesy reflectors are often rusty, chipped, and lousy and I fixed mine by gluing aluminum foil to the reflector. I'll send it to you:

Somebody must have a minimally servicable left bumper plate light they could send you.

Thanks Gordo, but I think Iím going to skip installing the reverse light on my GT. I donít really like how they look. Iím thinking of getting one of those fancy European rear fog lights and putting in a clear lens for the reverse

Now thatís I car I can be proud of now. The color contrasts really make the terrible body work seem better

    And no more glare!

It's Sunday night and I'm in So Cal but returning to AZ tomorrow afternoon. I can't remember if I already gave the plate lights away, but with the 1 piece rear bumper mod, I don't need any for my GT! Kyler, shoot me a PM so I "remember" and I'll check my pile of unloved parts! IIRC, they are R & L handed and it looks like you need the Left side?

    Opel "nineteen", going completely topless

I spent several hours today fixing a botched up job the PO or a body shop did on the headlights. Inner panel cut with tin snips, all bolts replaced with PHILLIPS head bolts that were rusted and seized. The front pivot point was welded on with globs of weld and is broken now (I will fix this later). Springs missing on the locking mechanism, all adjustment holes hogged out with a plasma cutter. Iíve made some mistakes on this car, but these by the PO were blatant laziness not lack of skill!

Iíll take some pictures when I take it back apart to fix the front pivot. I was in full repair mode and didnít take any photos. Also my entire front and driver side fender appears to be replaced as it is relatively new bare metal that overlays onto factory sheet metal. I did my best to get some paint in there, but Iíll certainly have to cut that fender all the way off and redo it when I actually make a true restored Aero GT replica down the road several years.

Also did you guys know Opel GTs can wink (if you are an idiot and install the headlight and flex plate backwards)

No worries itís fixed and no longer winking.

Just some touch ups, details, and searching for new issues this week.

The driver side rack bushing is worn beyond belief. It took me awhile to find the source of that clunking sound, but it was obvious when I hat my friend turn the wheel with the rack boot off. Almost 1/4Ē deflection! Got a new bushing incoming easy fix.

Went to rebuild my fuel pressure sender only to find out that the internals are totally gone except for the float. I just ordered one of the new cheaper ones from OGTS (theyíve had them about 2-weeks).

Iíve been doing a bit more paint work on the car too. See below!

    Itís looking so much better!
Later this week Iím going to attempt to trace the pinstriping on the dashboard with paint pens to fix how far itís faded. Do a bit more seam sealing on my bad frame welds, and give it a another shake down drive to the weekly car meet.

In a couple weeks Iíll start on making the hard top for it. And if I have enough cash I may do some GT/J style interior panels and vinyl flooring by the end of the summer.

Well, I "found" the bumpers (all 4 of them?) but there were no license lights with them. I vaguely remember giving them to someone else a couple of years ago when I was working on my one piece rear bumper. Then my Bonneville bike project was "bump started" and it has taken 3-4 times longer than I thought to get it done (currently untested so ?? on done).

For reference, a shot of the bike as of yesterday is attached. The fuel tank is just sitting on the frame (it actually covers the little black circles at the front of it). Also attached are a couple of shots of the rear body (license mount) mod and new rear bumper on the GT (in progress still).

How did you do that with the American flags on/in your stucco paint job? that's pretty cool! How did you get the flag decal to conform to that rough surface?

Haha!!! Stucco paint job. Thatís a good one.

Iíve been experimenting with a couple different methods over the past few months. I melted this one onto the surface! It does not work for letters, but any uniform shapes adhere well.

Took Kara out to the car meet again today! It looks so much better now itís unbelievable. It ran great about 30 miles. I took several people for rides in it to experience Opel. I even took a girl named Kara, for a a ride in my GT named Kara (talk about an icebreaker).

Hereís the faded dash pinstriping a PO did in 1978. I tried my best to copy it and restore it, but Iím not an artist at all and it is very difficult to paint continuous lines while doing opel-sutra since my doors are welded shut.

It came out ok but looks more like a 6 yr old did it than the original. Itís staying though. Part of the carís history like the other pinstripes Iíve saved.

I also hand painted some accents in the engine bay while had my brushes out. Looks great!

    Opel "nineteen", going completely topless

Nearly have all the extraneous holes in the car are plugged up. All the holes bolts can fit through are plugged. I still have a few brass panels to fabricate under the side windows. And I need a rubber boot for the speedo cable. After that the car will be totally sealed... except for the lack of a roof and side windows. We are getting there though!

Hereís my windshield wiper block off bolts

No pictures today, but I made a stand-alone 15 amp fused circuit for my CB radio, the original dash 12V socket (and another one hidden where the heater box should be), the clock, and wired the heater control switch to engage the dome light since I donít have doors to engage it. Tomorrow I may film and install an electric fuel pump, but Iím pretty worn out on wiring now...

I might go buy some poster board to make a template for my roof instead.
