So many upgrades... So Little Time...

The Forum and the site may be down for short periods over the weekend as I make upgrades to the Photo Gallery, Forums, mail program (Do we really need this?) new Classifieds, and Rate my Opel programs.

    Gary,

JM2CW, but the Photo Gallery is the most important thing for me after the Forum. I especially miss having the Photo Gallery preview on the home page, as it tells me when new photos have been uploaded. The Classified are also very useful, and I have been missing the previews of new ads on the home page.

I would LOVE to see a preview of the New Opel Product Reviews (my suggestion for a revised title) on the home page, as it would tell me when new reviews are posted, and probably vastly improve its readership.

As for "Rate My Opel", I don't really "get" how it is supposed to work. Maybe that is because my GT is the lowest rated photo on the site.

I have never used the mail feature, nor the Chat feature. Perhaps a "Survey" is in order" to allow members to provide direction on what they all think might be a priority to upgrade or maintain as is, and what features could be deleted? Or, you could just exercise your authority as the Supreme Commander, and do whatever you want!

Finishing up a bare-metal, nut & bolt rotisserie restoration of my '71 Opel GT; next up is my 28,000 mile Garage Find GT, stored since 1975, which needs a LOT of love...

The Photo Gallery Preview will be back as soon as 2 more photos are uploaded. The titles on the Exhaust sounds captures are too long and they expanded the main page out too much.

I have not added a lot to the main page in anticipation of the release of the new forum upgrade. (All add-ons will have to be reloaded)

Vb3 will be released next week, but the matching Portal is still a few months away. I may upgrade and use a different portal but that is dependent on getting the new classifieds up and running error free.

All in all we are in for *major* changes shortly.

    Should we say NEE!?

Sure the email is nice, but most of us already have an email accont some where else. That and all the email spoofing going on these days, maybe we should reconsider the need for it.

If very few people are using it, and resorces could be better budgeted some where else: should we say NEE! to the opelgt.com email?

For some reason, your photo is not making it to the server. I just approved a new GT pic and that uploaded ok.

Are you hitting the "Choose" button and uploading the pic from your PC? Is it in the guidelines for uploading printed in the upload screen?

Go to the Downloads section and get the link to IRFANVIEW. It's a free graphic editor that you can use to resize your photo. (or check your PM folder in your usercp)

    Ifranview

    GS20,

Load your pic into Ifranview by clicking on the wee yellow folder under the word "File" and sourcing the pic from your computer.

Then click on "Images" once the file has loaded and select the "resize/resample" instruction about half way down the command window that opens.

Now select the biggest of the size numbers, delete it and write in "600" Go down to OK and click.

Select "File" from above the resized picture and use the command "save as..."

If you are sving in the same directory as the original file is in you will need to rename at this point or it will over-write the existing file.

Now upload the new file to GT.com website as usual!

GASP! Hope instructions are all there - should give you a good start. Took me a while to master the process

i got it downsized and smaller than 100KB, 480X300 pixels and it still wont work, heres all the info

saved in C drive as JPG format
    95.04KB

current memor size is 421.91KB....could this be it then, cuz if it is theres no way to get it small enough to work.

    Hmmmmm?

The only thing that springs to mind is that if both the original file and the downsized file have the same name but are stored in different diretories you may still be trying to upload the larger original version.

When the pics show up as thumbnails placing the cursor arrow on them, without clicking, brings up an information box with type; camera; date and size info - just make sure the file you are trying to upload is the 95.04KB one and not the original.

On my computer the original files live in the "My Pictures" directory and the downsized files are saved in the Local Disc C: directory - which from DOS days is known as the root directory, I think.

Someone else set up my computer for me so I don't know a lot about were Windows stores things and how to tell it were to do so????? Knew DOS backwards but Windows seems to be a bit more complex

Hey, don't knock W98, G-smurf, I like it better than XP. Here's what you do. R-click "My Computer" and select <explore>, click on the C drive and then, "Files" at the top. Select "New Folder" and when it makes it, just rename it "Email Photos". I did that for mine, works pretty good, too!

heres what i did....i started another user name, "greensmurf" instead of "greensmurf20", uploaded a pic again and it worked fine the first time, tried to upload the exact same pic again with "greensmurf20" and it wouldnt work, so i dont know, so i guess i just wait for the pic to be approved and i'm greensmurf without the 20.....
