Here's a text file of Nobody's 2.0 Build-Up thread. You will need Macromedia's free Flash Player to view it.
Gary, I tried dowloading it and couldn't get it to open. I installed Macromedia's free Flash Player before trying it. Anyone else tried it? Jarrell
I've tried everything I can think of and now I'm out of ideas to even see what may be left of it. I've installed macromedia twice and downloaded it twice but it's a no go. without the pics of it all it was kind of useless and maybe it's best to just let it die. I'll just keep it in my head as best I can and not go down that road again. no problem
There's got to be a way if it's save in a text file. Maybe a version of Word? Jarrell
Dave, I just got the text by using the open with: and chose IE
Pretty Ironic I tried that too and it's locked up the ISP so many times now I don't want to try anymore.
I've got 135 pages of text with Macromedias Flash's screen at the top, but no pictures. Jarrell
Soybean can you send it to me in any form? I think you might have my Email still. Or I can post it to ya off this site.
I'll give it a try Dave. Send me a PM with your email and I'll see if I can send it in Word. Jarrell
Got that one Gary and it opens. You Dave? Jarrell
Ok I've read what is left and I don't think my feelings on that should be even spoken. Thanks Bob, Keith, Jim Ron and James. Your help was really appreciated. God damn that is an agonizing death to alot of effort, Remind me not to do that again. night all I'm gonna go fire it up and regroup. That hurt even more
That's just a text file only dump of the thread in flash and .txt format. The posts with attachments are on the test site. I have not yet gotten a response to my question on how to restore the thread back here.
My personal feeling on that is that if it needs to be carved up like that then there is no real sence in it. I did the work to show it could be done and after reading what is left It is just a hard to read mess. If it can't be restored then that's life but why beat a dead horse? Given alot of time and ambition I might be able to put it back together but to be honest I have no desire to do it a second time. I do appreciate the effort it took to get it back but in that kind of state it's really not worth it. I put my efforts out in the public domain so what happens after that I have no control over, I just have been building Opel motors since the mid 70s what could I know?
Gary, Dave, Jarrell et al,
Good to see that the info was not lost and a start has been made on the resurection of this thread. Too much groundbreaking info is held in this file to allow it to die! At one stage it was the largest thread on site and gave info that is far more applicable than just to one great engine build.

I got the .txt file to open up with "WinWord" no problem and got 110 pages of the text file, so it appears I got it in total. Now if Gary gets the info on how to retrieve the backup, all will be right with the world again and the site will have the 2.0 buildup with pics again.
Jim, Ron, Jarrel and Gary do what you want I tried to read it as it was and it's even worse than before. I wrote most of it and I chose not to clutter my computer with something I couldn't make heads or tails of. For me personally it is a sore spot that might not heal and a lesson on what not to do. Like I said earlier it's in public domain but that doesn't mean I can't laugh at my own folly to even have attempted it.
I know it well and the entire motor build is gone so what is the point? It starts out fragmented on the balance issue and that was way down the road from the beginning.
