This was my 9th Octopelfest. Funny how time slips away (Willie Nelson). A lot of driving again but it was worth spending time with Opel comrades. Foleys were great host as always. On the way to Octopelfest, I stayed overnight at Dave and Deb Smith’s place and enjoyed their gracious hospitality. On Saturday, Dave and I left at 7am at the temperature just above freezing. I think this was the first time in 30 years since I own my GT that I was scraping ice from its windshield. Fortunately, cold and foggy morning turned to a beautiful day.

Long day today as it took me over 11 hours for 900 km (560 miles) but I am back home safely. A lot of rain over the PA Turn Pike, fortunately it stopped as I entered NY. I made long stop at Watkins Glen for good lunch and also stopped at Duty Free shop at the border for some Irish Whiskey they put on sale, so it all added to the driving time.

I just realized that I drove 4000 km (2485 miles) in the last three weeks. The GT performed great all the time. Love that car.

Old racers never die. They just go bench racing.

Have to repeat what everyone else has said.. Kudos 100x to the Foleys.. !

Great time, sorry I evac'd so fast. Realized it was late and that I had to get up at 5AM to get back to Richmond.

Roy came and got most my collectibles, the GordOpel Bicycle, and my Kadett for the National Meet display..

See everyone thats going at the nationals in 2 weeks..

Thank you to everyone for making the trip to spend time with us at this year's Octopelfest! Also, thank you to all for bringing delicious food and brews to share with everyone.

This is our favorite event, and not because we host it. We enjoy the casual and unscripted nature of it, and how it brings us all together one last time before the long winter sets in. Your friendship means the world to us, and we are glad that you consider us worthy of a long drive, a transatlantic flight, and your valuable time.
