I'm just waiting, but looks like I'll be sending the new Can O' Keys to Arizona. I have them ready to go. When I do I will start a new thread and maybe have a sticky placed on it to keep up with the can better. We shouldn't exclude new members, and it was unforseen that someone would want to keep them or not return them.
A year or better I bought a bunch of Opel keys off ebay that were old used ones.

Wouldn't hurt to have the thread include the names of who has the keys so when they send them off you know who they are sent to.

It would be petty larceny and anyone selling them would be selling stolen goods.
Doubt if it would happen but a call to the police in his town would be in order.

I remember the situation now. It wasn't keys on ebay, it was travel bugs from geocaching.
The guy was going around and "finding" them and he put them on ebay. The police did get involved but found no grounds to arrest him. He did lose his job over it though.

No, it wasn't our can of keys, it was about ten random keys, again over a year or two ago

At an average of $20/per key, how much was the can worth?

The original can of keys is missing. There is a new can that just started going around and can be found on this thread
    https://www.opelgt.com/forums/general...ys-2015-a.html

Be sure to look at the rules, you being a new guy on the forum, we need complete contact info before we can send it to you.

Also I can cut you a key which would be a sure bet way of getting you what you need. You can remove a door handle and get the code on the lock stem, or if your glove box has a lock, that will work too, as it has a code stamped inside it.

    Closure!!

As you can see by the attached picture, the famed "Bucket of Keys" has been successfully and safely returned to me. Thanks to those who helped, and to "Tomes4" for sending it back.

I got in the door but the ignition won't turn. Can we coordinate sending the bucket to Spring TX please?

Lance, Do you mean a key you have worked in the door, but not in the ignition? Does your key work in both doors? Unless someone has changed one or more of them (entirely possible in 43 years), the same key should work all the locks. My key would actually insert into the ignition (and the other locks) upside down. When there, it would NOT work! When I turned it over, it inserted "better" (actually went in about 1/8" further) and worked (but not easily at first). Try some lock lubricant (there are several) and work it (them) for a while. Also, try the Search feature and read the other posts about tricks that worked on the locks of other members. Lots of info!

Perhaps a substantial security deposit via Pay Pal to a volunteer member set up as a gift.

Spring, TX is 25 miles north of Houston.
Thought we had a few long time Houston Opel owners?

Doug, Thanks for your suggestion I shot some dry lube into the ignition and worked it for a while several times but it didn't work. I also noticed that the Steering wheel and column had been pulled. I am thinking that the previous owner had to change the ignition. I appreciate all the feedback.
