    1972 gt extras

Got a bundle of spare parts from previous owner when I bought the car. Don't need any of them, will have more once they are pulled from the car as it sits...

    So far, I have:

HC 1.9L block (pistons in, head dismounted and disassembled)
1.9L head (10 bolt), intake attached. Head was disassembled by previous owner, all parts seem to be there.
    stock? cam
    2 weber 32/36 carbs
    2 30-35 amp alternators
    windshield wiper arms
    4 spd gearbox
    bell housing
    washer fluid tank
    water pump
    headlamps (with bulb)
    front subframe
    Steinmetz flares front and rear

Currently removing white interior and keeping everything possible intact.
    door panels
    rear spare tire cover
    seats
    etc.

Once I have donor car for transplant I will also have a proven runner HC 1.9/4spd. Most likely will have a rear end as well, haven't decided 100% on that yet. Still need to weigh options first.

Don't really want to part everything out individually, hoping someone is interested in the lot at a very generous price. Not looking for top dollar on all of this, don't really know what any of it is worth to anyone other than the flares. Would like to get $300 for those. Willing to deal.

Hey Cody, do you by any chance have an original radio that has the writing on the plastic face that says, "Opel GT Radio by Delco"?

I'll have to check. It seems the previous owner might have done some radio work, but it is entirely possible he just threw some speakers at it. I will check this evening and let you know.

Sorry for not getting info back to you yet. These fires out here are brutal. Had a couple spark off closer to home than I am comfortable with.... Will get info as soon as I can.

Dan, I think I still have the original radio for the GT. Let me check tomorrow, I believe it still works or at least it did when I changed it out. If I do, you can have it for postage, I have a radio, CD player and SD card that plays MP3. Never heard the same song twice. Had to cut up the gauge thing to get the radio in, but just minor cuts and it fits great.

Were they all "GT" radios ...

It seems that a lot of radios installed in GTs said "Kadette Radio by Delco" rather than "GT Radio ...". Was this a change at some year cutoff or ???

    Doug

PS - I have one of the "Kadette" versions which was removed from the electric conversion out south of Superior, AZ (east of Phoenix about 60 miles). My '73 had a hole in the dash where a radio may have been.

The change from Kadette Radio to Opel GT Radio happened sometime in 1970 I believe.

Bob that would be fantastic I'm really after the one that has the writing "Opel Gt Radio by Delco". And I will compensate you not just postage but a reasonable price as well I insist. I know most of you have replaced with a more modern and usable radio, but I'm just wanting to keep the original look as best as I can. I have made some modifications such as new three point seat belts, but trying to stay close to original.

Dan: It is an Opel radio, says that on the front plate. Since it was just taking up space, I would like it to go to a good home, and that's you. Now I insist, so you are stuck with the postage, otherwise it is going to just sit there like it has for many years. Rather have someone that can use it rather than having it sit around taking space in my shop.

That’s awesome Bob, I really appreciate it and just know it will be permanently mounted in an Opel GT as long as I own it. I have no plans to get rid of my GT until I leave this world. Then it goes to one of my kids and keeps on Opeling.

I plan on going with RestroSound and a custom face plate and dials I designed. Best of both worlds. It would look like it belonged.

    Unfortunately,
Seat belts are not salvageable. They have tears in the material and I would not want to sell anyone bad equipment..... If you're looking to fix up the assemblies and toss some new belts in them, I can get them to you. As they sit, I was going to toss them. Let me know.

Still have everything else listed... Anybody looking for a flare kit? It's basically the only part I know for a fact is worth something. They're in great shape; no dings or chips. mostly need to just get the stuff gone and don't want to send it all to the recycle yard if someone else can make use of it all. Todd (Opels unlimited) being unresponsive, per usual, even though he is closest to me and would have a use for all of it.
