What coat looks like on somewhat well fed Model.

Just sent you a PM Mel.
the SW Missouri Opel boys are coming with my Rallye Kadett.
I doubt that I could haul it to Springfield. The bumperettes, yes. The main bumper? In a Miata??? Although if you want it, LuAnn has offered her Mustang for the trip. It may be better suited to the somewhat questionable weather of that weekend (it's not a convertible!)
It will be nice to have the SWMO folks make it over again.
As far as bumper goes, I'll stick with what I have for now. If I ever feel flush, I may spring for stainless.
I'm hoping to go to Rte 66 then visit my daughter in Elkhorn Wisconsin as I have done in the past
Gerri is asking me about staying at another Hotel rather than the rte. 66 which I'm ok with. I think Gordy is staying at another Hotel... Not sure which one? Any other options?
There is a La Quinta Inn about a half mile south of the RT. 66 Hotel next to Walmart. Less than 5 years old. Been looking at it if we need to move from where we are. You folks have to let me know when or if you want to.
I called for reservation @ 66 Hotel two days ago. Not much left We could only get double They have a wedding there Sat night so a lot of there rooms are booked.. La Quinta might be good option but we like staying n the club hotel.

I too like staying with the group but last year we had to change rooms and still were not thrilled w/the room.... I have stayed at La Quinta's and like them ..as does Gerri. The price is $85, $10 more than Rte 66 The Holiday Inn is also an option... as I said I think Gordo stays there.
Since I'll be nearby I'll be there at RTE 66 at nite and with the group for dinner.
I reserved a room for Vicki and I for both Friday and Saturday nights at the Route 66 Hotel. I will say that I was not real happy at the price increase again (now $75); and at first I checked and booked another room at the Motel 6 up the street ($56/night). Then I got to thinking about it more and decided that it might be better logistically to be closer to the group at Route 66. I cancelled our reservations at Motel 6 and registered at Route 66 instead. Now I still need to register online for the car show. Hope the weather cooperates. I am trying this year to just trailer my GT to the show due to various reasons (car is driveable though).
Was at the Hotel Friday to see how many rooms were left. Looks like 6 at that time. They will release our block about a week from the event. With the new ownership things have changed with room pricing. Once again, after the event we will reconsider if we want to be there next year. So far a majority have felt it was an acceptable deal.
This is also time to think about the weekend itinerary.
Friday is arrival day for most folks. There are a couple of options for that day, Participate in the evening Cruise to Downtown or have dinner with the group. The Cruise is fun and interesting but to be at the front you will need to be at the staging area by 2:00 pm or so. Otherwise you will be behind 1500 cars or so.
I intend to take whoever is interested to Motor Heads Bar and Grill about 6:00 pm that evening for dinner. The hospitality room should be open around that time also.
Most who have said they will be at the event have attended before and know the drill for Saturday an Sunday. We will assemble on the Route 66 Hotel parking lot on Saturday Morning at 8:00 AM to talk about that days activities and convoy down to the Event site. If can not make that let us know and we will hold a parking spot for you. It is easy to slip in with our group from the north end of 6th street
I will post a bit more on things later
Gerri and I will be staying at La Quinta but will be at the Rte. 66 Hotel for the nightly bench racing sessions as well as attending the group dinners.
I'm flying into Chicago, renting a car and driving to Elkhorn Wisconsin to see my Daughter and family. On Friday we'll drive to Springfield. On Sunday it's back to Wisconsin then to Chicago on Tuesday for our flight back to New York. We're looking forward to seeing everyone.
Thanks again John (and Connie) for you work in making this a great event for the Opel Family
After you mentioned it I looked the coat over again, it does look like the design could be moved up some. I need to go by the shop for some other stuff so I will talk to Dave about it. Nor sure if it's a set up thing.
I had encouraged Mel to let folks know what he had left to get rid of. Anyone else who has parts that need to find a new home, lets just post them on this thread. I happen to have a Sprint Manifold and a Ceramic Coated Header that could take up residence in another Garage.
I have many years of factory service manuals if any are interested. thanks

Tried to send you a PM, you need to clear your in box.
Went to Greco yesterday to ask about Dieters question on the position of the Design on the back of the Coats. Dave said it could move up but would be best if left below the seam across the back. They are very busy right now and I am not sure the Online Store will be up and running soon. As I mentioned earlier if you have an interest in any of these wearable's you can call the shop and ask for Mike or Adam. The shop phone # is 217-483-2877. In fact Calling will give you a wider range of options to customize the products vs the eventual online store. The options on the store will be limited to try and make things less complicated to set up. If you call you can ask for the colors of your choice for, Your Opel on the back of the Coat, the Shirt color of choice as well as the color of the GT or Manta on the shirt, and of course with the Hats choose both hat color and thread color. The guys at Greco have worked hard with me to put out something that we hope be will liked by you guys. The thing with embroidery is it will be available all year long and can be run in any amount. I do not have firm pricing right now, but my coat was under $140, shirts and hats should be about the same as last year.
