History
I acquired this car in August 2006 after finding it listed for sale on the OpelGT.com ad board. The car was located in Eastern Kentucky, ~400 miles from me.
The previous owner was a Model T collector and had purchased this car for his wife to drive while they were at car shows - but she decided it was too small.
According to owner - the previous owner had rebuild the engine and reconditioned 95% of the car ~8 years prior. He passed away unexpectedly and his wife decided to sell the car when her son turned 16 because she was concerned about his safety in the vehicle.
Known issues when i purchased the car: second barrel of Solex was not functioning, fuel gauge not functioning, fuel cap key missing, temperature gauge unstable, hard start.

Notes:
The Crane Cams (formerly known as Allison) XR-700 electronic ignition kit was purchased on eBay. The kit included various 6-cylinder shutters, but the 4-cylinder shutter I needed was not included. After contacting Crane Cams technical support, they were kind enough to send the correct shutter (#220) for free.
(FYI - The correct XR-700 kit for the Opel GT is the 700-0231, however Crane Cams tech support told me that all XR-700 kits have the same electronic unit - the only difference is the shutters and mounting hardware.)

Audio
Changes:
• Alpine Stereo
• 2 Alpine Amplifiers
• 12" Infinity Subwoofer
• Stock Clock
Notes:
I used a Dremel to cut out a larger opening for the installation of an Alpine head unit. A universal stereo installation kit was used. Polyester filler was used to change the profile of the kit around the stereo to make it look like it belongs. To finish it off, the instrument panel was sprayed with Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric Black.
