History
Originally purchased by Henry Austin Clark, Jr, owner of the Long Island Auto Museum. He special ordered the Elan for his son, James Clark. In addition to owner of the museum, "Austie" was a part owner of Bridgehampton Race Track and the Elan probably spent some time on the track. The car spent some time in the museum and was featured on a post card. In 1994, the car was sold to a gentleman in Massachusetts and underwent a restoration and conversion from Right Hand Drive to Left Hand Drive. It changed hands a few more times prior to my purchase. I have all service records and paperwork of its history along with a Certificate of Provenance from Lotus showing it has its original engine and body. The S2 S/E is the rarest of the Lotus Elans. It is unknown how many were built. The factory records indicate that as many as 340 potentially could have been made and some records indicate as few as 80. It has been a dream of ours to own an Elan and are proud to be the caretakers of this low mileage (<25k miles) rare car.
