This has been my dream car for years and I finally found one for sale in Oregon and couldn't pass it up. It's a well-worn but pretty original example and hadn't been on the road for nearly 20 years. We rebuilt the carburetors and replaced the fluids and tires and got it up and running but it's going to need a lot more work before it can be driven reliably again.
1958 Mercedes 220S (Black)
2.2L SOHC inline six with aluminum head, dual Solex carburetors, 4-speed gearbox with column shift and automated (vacuum-actuated) clutch.
Red leather, "ivory" steering wheel and shifter. Working on installing seat belts ; )
All original and a bit worn down.
Becker AM radio. Doesn't work.
So far I've replaced the rear shocks.
Wheel and Tire
Stock steel wheels. Finding tires for these is not fun.
