General Information

1900 AL
Rally red
I found my dream GT november 2012 in Bonn Germany. It was bought in the late 70's when Steinmetz stopped there activity, by a garage owner and Steinmetz enthusiast in Bonn who also owns several amazing Steinmetz Commodore's !
Back in those days the car was over all in a very good state and 100% genuine Steinmetz but the engine was in parts for an overhaul. However the owner never found the time to start restoring the GT so it spent over 30years under a rug in the back of his garage waiting for me :) Now I'm in the process of waking it up in Brittany France and hope to get it back on the road spring 2015...

Well Not much under the hood right now, but nice stuff in the box :
-original Steinmetz HP 1 Anlage tuning +35/40hp
-SOLEX 40-42cci carburator
-Re bore up to 94mm (new cylinder capacity 1938cm3 contre 1897cm3 + 41cm3)
-Ported and polished intake/exhaust by Steinmetz
-intake valves 43,80mm (vs standart 39mm)
-Hard valve spring with spacers on the intake springs
-Irmscher K555 camshaft 284° 11,4mm lift (vs standart 9mm)
-Irmscher distributor
Genuine interior with Fusina Cam-An steering wheel (except for the carpets)
Rear and front Steinmetz flares
Solex 40-42cci and the sport exhaust
I'm planing to instal Koni's and keep the ride as low as possible.
Steinmetz also added a hydraulic cylinder on the steering arm, probably to improve hi speed stability.
The rear drive train is fitted with the Steinmetz auto-locking differential.
Wheel and Tire
The rims are BBS E30 13 9J magnesium rims that I sent to BBS in Germany to have then crack checked by x-ray and fully restored.

At the rear and front the GT has Pirelli P6 Cinturato 235/60 r13
But they are to old to drive now and impossible to find new so I will probably go for Kumho V700 235/50 r13 or TOYO PROXES R888
